Idk. Just for me personally it's easier to draw wood seeing a dinger live rather than reading about a bunt single in a 1908 box score.

I listed 5 old time hitters four of which hit 500+ home runs the other has the most doubles all time.

Yeah, that's how I did my list. Of course Mays would've certainly made my favorites list if I had grown up in the '60s, but it doesn't feel right listing someone as my favorite if all I've seen are some highlights. That connection of following a team every day of the season is where you build that fondness for certain players.

Funny story, not really, but, the last game I saw before we moved away from the bay area was against the Braves. I saw Mays, McCovey, Hart etc etc and Hank Aaron. Yes i was a wee shaver back in the 70's.

I didn't list a SP but I could have easily listed 4 or 5...or 7 What the the hell:

Timmy
MadBum
Big Daddy
The Polish Prince
The Count(turned into a bit of a nut later in life didn't he?)
Cain
Dravecky

I am seriously scared about the coming seasons. If the NL adopts the DH, I can not, in full confidence, tell you I will remain a baseball fan...
Well, it looks like the Giants decided to keep playing the NL game anyway, with the way Pence is hitting
