Fly, Eagles Fly
I see Huff as a slot guy. Part time player. If Chip thinks he can be an outside starter he is on crack.

Then you need to give Kelly the crack. Its been widely reported that the coaching staff views Huff's upside as being more than even Matthews.

Eagles think Josh Huff has higher upside than Jordan Matthews - Bleeding Green NationShow me a link saying that.
iFor me it comes down to having zero confidence in Thurmond or Carroll or Watkins lining up at corner.
I think they could make it work with that receiving corps and we may all be pleasantly surprised in what we get out of the current guys. I could see Ertz being a pro bowler. I could see Sproles catching 80 passes. I could see Matthews matching Maclin's production. I could see Huff becoming a legit receiver. And its not like all that has to happen for the Eagles to have a successful offense. They should have the best running game in the league.
Any draft plan that doesn't result in a starting quality Corner I think is flawed, and the only way I see to ensure that is to draft one in the first.
Additionally, I would prioritize getting another quality guard over receiver as well. Barbre may be fine at RG, but they have serious depth issues there. The only reason I don't advocate drafting a guard in the second round is I think they can get good guys in the third.
If you can get a first round talent receiver in the 2nd round, I think you jump on it even if your need at Guard is more critical.
While I would love to draft a top Safety, I do think this position has a good chance of being filled from within. There are four pretty good guys that could step up to fill that role.
1. So I am going Corner in the first ...Even if its a bit of a reach.
2. I am going BPA at WR, Corner, Safety or OL in the 2nd, and projecting that player will be a WR.
3. I am going OL in the third...assuming I didn't draft one in the third.
All three of these guys should end up playing alot.
After that, I am looking for guys to compete and develop at OL, OLB, Safety and WR. The way this team is currrently staffed I think I can mostly ignore TE, RB, DL and ILB.
I've heard the same hype up stuff for Marcus Smith ... it's just words until I see it done on the field. Huff had 8 catches and 4 drops last year ... at 5'11" 4.5+ 40 time, plus didn't run many pro routes in college? Look, I hope he becomes the next Hines Ward, but I'm not letting Josh Huff determine what I do in the draft at WR if I'm Chip regardless of how much I like the kid.
i
We are real close here but I would flip the first and second rounds and basically for the same reasons.
I believe we can get by at either CB or S with a current player because we have upgrade at CB and LB. think back to the Buddy Ryan days. Our CBS were not as good as our front 7 made them look. With enough pressure, even a guy like Watkins can cover for four seconds if he is surrounded by other talent. Few teams have studs at both CB and both S positions.
On the other hand, my concerns for this offense are well documented. I think this town will go berserk if the offense struggles.
WR first, then the best CB or S, then at least one OL. This draft is loaded with really good OL but nobody talks about them. Should be good OL down into round 6.
that WR lineup is the worst in the NFC East....So you have a little more faith in the current roster of defensive backs than I do. I see a couple of fourth round picks and a couple of low priced street free agents with only two spots nailed down.
at receiver I include ertz and sproles in the analysis and see 2 recent 2nd round picks who are young and have been very successful. A third round pick, a former probowler, and a savvy veteran jack of all trades with a very unique skill set and a hoi hum veteran. that is 5 players competing for a position where normally three play.
To me it's obvious which is the bigger need.

Yep, I do as well. Boykin , Kendricks,Mathis and curry could all be moved for draft picksI fully expect the Eagles to trade up from their 2nd round position to early 2nd on draft day using Boykin. Maybe even trade Kendricks straight up for another 2nd.
