Adrian Peterson could see a decline in snaps
Fri, Jul 22nd 7:06pm EDT
By Steve Maro

MIN.png
Minneapolis Star-Tribune reporter Matt Vensel reports that Vikings RB Adrian Peterson could see a decline in snaps. Backup RB Jerick McKinnon has “had a strong spring” and the Vikings are very interested in giving him more snaps. The Vikings also plan to run more plays out of the shotgun formation. For years, Peterson has struggled in the shotgun and has preferred running behind center. The Vikings may look to substitute Peterson when in the shotgun formation. (Source: Minneapolis Star-Tribune)

Fantasy Impact: Even if Peterson does see a slight decline in snaps, he should still get enough snaps to be considered a "bell-cow back". Peterson is going into his tenth season but has shown very few signs of slowing down. With the recent four-game suspension of Le’Veon Bell, there are very few RBs that are safer options than Peterson. Peterson is the Vikings best player, they will adapt their system to fit his strengths, regardless of what they are sayin

Jets to give Matt Forte plenty of rest
Fri, Jul 22nd 9:36am EDT
By Nicolas Wilcox

NYJ.png
The New York Post's Brian Costello reports the Jets will give Matt Forte "plenty of rest" this season. (Source: New York Post )

Fantasy Impact: According to a similar report from ESPN's Rich Cimini, the Jets plan to use a "time-share system." Clearly, the Jets want to keep Forte fresh. This is not good for Forte's fantasy value as he's being drafted as a top-15 running back. There is a good chance he doesn't live up to that draft cost.

As soon as they realize what they are trying to do won't work, they will feed AP the ball. Like always.

This should make Treff smile:

The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Terry Pluto reports Browns coach Hue Jackson "has drawn up plays" for WR Terrelle Pryor.

Pluto says the plays are designed to get the ball in Pryor's hands and "let him run." With a receiver corps devoid of playmaking ability outside of rookie Corey Coleman, Jackson is making the right call by attempting to use Pryor's game-breaking traits to full effect. Now the former quarterback just needs to show well enough in camp to earn the role. In addition to Pryor, the Browns should be looking to utilize sophomore RB Duke Johnson's talents in the passing game.

Getting a little tired of this guy. Where's that famous Green Bay work ethic?

Eddie Lacy was 240-245 at June minicamp
8382.jpg
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel confirms Eddie Lacy reported to Packers training camp weighing 260 pounds last July.

That's 29 pounds above Lacy's Combine weigh-in. Per the Journal-Sentinel's Bob McGinn, "estimates in June" were that Lacy had dropped 15-20 pounds, bringing his weight into the 240-245 range. One NFC personnel director noted post-college weight gains aren't out of the norm for ex-Alabama running backs. "Trent Richardson was like 20 pounds heavier when he reported (to the Colts) than when he came out of there," said the executive. "He lost all his quickness. Lacy's got a little bit of a knucklehead in him, too."

Gabba Gabba Hey!

Blaine Gabbert has early 'edge' on Kaepernick
6451.jpg
Blaine Gabbert "has a good grasp" of Chip Kelly’s offense.

Gabbert is the favorite to start after getting most of the first-team reps this offseason. "Many in the organization" see him as a better fit than Colin Kaepernick, who missed OTAs and was limited at minicamp. Even with Kaepernick ready for training camp, it sounds like the starting job is Gabbert’s to lose. The 49ers can potentially save $2 million in roster bonuses from benching Kaepernick.

Anquan Boldin signs with Detroit.

Maybe this is nothing for the 36 year-old from a fantasy perspective.
But I've always like Boldin. Great hands.

I'm sure the yards won't be there, but I actually see him as a legitimate red zone target for Stafford, perhaps filling the void from Megatron's retirement. (A WR who regularly caught an average of 9 TD over the last 3 seasons.)

This could be bad news for Tate, Jones and Ebron owners.

Agreed to all. As long as his age hasn't made him frail, the way his game translates isn't exactly destroyed be a little age regression. Not reliant on speed, but precision routes, great hands and body placement/control. Those degrade much slower than speed

Its about time he should have been a Lion a long time ago

Arian Foster - RB - Dolphins
The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson considers Arian Foster "the favorite" to start over Jay Ajayi as long as Foster is "completely healthy."

Coach Adam Gase has been talking up Foster the past week-plus since Foster signed a one-year deal. Ajayi is an unproven second-year pro who has some injury concerns of his own and doesn't have the pass-game skill set Foster possesses. Foster is no sure thing from an injury standpoint, either, but signs have been pointing to him being very involved since signing a contract last week. At this point, Foster will probably have to get hurt and/or Ajayi will need an incredible summer to take back the top spot on the Dolphins' depth chart.

I cannot wrap my head around this possibly being the case, and if it is, Foster won't last long...they must really think the existing stable of backs sucks, or that they all need a swift coachspeak kick in the ass

I think Ajayi is irrelevant long term. He may get his chances this year, but if he has failed to impress his current coaching enough to think Foster with all his baggage should be ahead of him, then I can't see him ever ascending to the top of depth chart.

Dunno if I'd say never, but it certainly is some interesting coachspeak.

Seems to me they have to give Ajayi all the chances in the world this year after letting Miller walk. Time to look a little deeper on that roster?
