The Washington Post's Mike Jones left seventh-round RB Keith Marshall off his 53-man roster projection.

Jones has Matt Jones, Chris Thompson, and Mack Brown making the final roster, but he acknowledged it is possible the Redskins keep four running backs. A 219-pound back with 4.31 wheels, Marshall's college career was sidetracked by an ACL injury as a sophomore, and he dealt with hamstring issues during the offseason program. Marshall has a ton of athletic upside, but he needs to stay healthy through training camp.

First off - how the hell did the Raiders pass on the fastest RB in the draft in every round?!?!?
Secondly - did Gruden tell the Post to run this blurb to get this kid motivated?

I was already on the Jones bandwagon, regardless of Thompson/Brown/Marshall, this only supports that case.

I was gonna post this one for Steelers over on our Dynasty 1 thread, but figured he'd see it soon enough.

I like Jones as well, but he's gotta concentrate on the fumbles and dropped passes.

Idk what to think of that backfield. I don't really like Jones but there's nobody else there. Thompson might surprise.

I think Jones has potential, but he is a volume runner and needs consistent touches to be effective. I worry about the fumbles also, but I think he has the tools to be a solid NFL rusher. Marshall better make the team if he is healthy

I just think Jones looks very smooth when he gets it going, and any increase in workload will let him pile up the stats.
Thompson is a COP back, imo, nothing more nothing less. He's good, but not carry-the-ball-more-than-a-few-times-per-game good.

@tlance probably has it right - Jones will need the touches to produce, and I just think if he gets the touches, he'll be in the RB1 discussion for fantasy, love these fence players where some think he'll be great, others not interested at all.

I think Jones can be the guy, always known as someone who produces, might not always be fancy, may not talk much, but gets the job doe.

Ezekiel Elliott - RB - Cowboys
DallasCowboys.com's David Helman believes No. 4 overall pick Ezekiel Elliott "will finish with roughly 280-300 carries."

Adrian Peterson was the only back to crack 300 carries last season, and Doug Martin joined him as the only backs above 270. That said, this projection is not in any way crazy. The Cowboys are just a year removed from handing the ball to DeMarco Murray 392 times, and they spent a top-five pick on Elliott in part because they want to replicate the ground-and-pound approach which worked so well in 2014. Elliott has more competition in the backfield than Murray did, but he is still the clear No. 1 on a what projects to be a run-heavy team. Topping 300 carries is certainly within the realm of possibilities.

Related to that last bit you mentioned - I was thinking about startinga thread for people to post players they're either much higher or much lower on than most but I wasnt sure if people would wanna share that lol. Think it'd be interesting and lead to some good debate though.

He'll get the touches for sure...Marshall is his toughest competition. He needs to hold onto the ball. And there are already reports of him dropping balls in camp. I agree about Thompson, not to mention that he's another guy who can't stay healthy so far.

I believe he invented mayo.

1) Classic response, Chef.
2) Just goes to show that everyone has an opinion that will find it's way over to Rotoworld. Gotta take it with a grain of salt though. Didn't Monkey report earlier in the week that someone from the Washington Post left some rookie off of his 53-man roster projection? Seemed to get some traction. But the thing is... these guys don't make the final decisions.

Sorry, but...:pound::pound::pound::pound:

Manziel says he's going sober starting July 1
9271.jpg
Ex-NFL QB Johnny Manziel said he's going "completely sober" starting this Friday, July 1.

"No booze, eating right and training like crazy." Those were apparently Manziel's words to TMZ Sports. JFF also said he's determined to make an NFL comeback and ready to get back to work. Only after two more days of binge drinking and partying. We'd be shocked if Manziel plays in 2016.

Here we go again with these two...of course, at this point it's just reporter/speak, but it certainly could come true.

Giovani Bernard - RB - Bengals
Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson believes Cincinnati could use more two-back sets with Tyler Eifert's (ankle) availability in question.

With Marvin Jones and Mohamad Sanu leaving in free agency and Eifert hurt, the Bengals are desperate for receiving weapons. Free-agent addition Brandon LaFell and second-rounder Tyler Boyd will be asked to fill some of that void, but a bigger role for Giovani Bernard in the passing game should be part of the answer as well. He and Jeremy Hill could find themselves on the field together often this season.
