rv Smith underwent meniscus surgery Wednesday, which is likely to end his 2021 season.

Smith's recovery timetable is four to five months, which puts his entire 2021 season in doubt. Behind Smith, backup Tyler Conklin has recovered from his hamstring injury and set to play in Week 1.

You were, we talked about him. Def remember that.

Side note. Is darrell willims the backup most folks r sleeping on?
Very well could be. McKinnon muddies the water though. If healthy, he's prototype Andy Reid style. But when's that last time that was the case, and would he be relied on in a significant role? My guess is no one would be worth much of a damn if CEH were to miss time, but McKinnon would return more PPR value, and Williams would be the better hail Mary for the random score or two.

Yeah most Likey, williams did fair when thrust into action last year. Think hes next man up. Reid doesnt do a ton of 2 back though…think williams would be getting 15 touches a game at least bw rush/pass with ceh out. Small sample size but the the browns playoff game 13 rush and targeys with 4catches. Bills game 13 rush, 1 target 1 catch.

I would say that's probably accurate, his 36 catches ini 34 career games, many of which had the starters and guys ahead of him missing time (Hunt, Ware, Williams, CEH) is what's concerning, and while they did get him involved, he wasn't exactly a factor.

What's that M*A*S*H unit behind Henry? Evans on IR, McKinnon on COVID list, and the only other one left is an injured UDFA rookie.

I really don't understand what Chucky is doing.

Peyton Barber? Really? Out of all the names out there, Barber is the one you think can help this team?

Lol. I love the reactions to most rb signings! :suds:

Me too.
I understand these signings because I look at them from this perspective:
If I lose my top early-down RB. And if I also lose my 3rd-down RB. In this dire strait, I need a durable, experienced RB, who can also help with pass-protection at this point. This is not the time to put all your eggs into the basket of a rookie, a banged-up aging starter, or seldom-used practice-squad RB.

Granted, this RB may see seldom or sporadic work. But if severely needed, he offers a safety net of experience.

It is kind-of how I assemble my redraft fantasy teams.

Bullseye. Agree. Theres also a reason certain backs keep getting passed over. Theres also a reason certain guys like barber, or i know treff hates him…but cj anderson etc are the guys that keep getting plucked and used. This is the nfl. Granted teams make mistakes, they all do. But when you see it consistently, there is something to learn there.

to clarify, my comment of "something to learn there" is NOT a shot at anyone. That is reference to myself. I try to take notice of things like that.

Well, to drastically disagree...I'm not suggesting the Raiders sign a banged up aging vet...which btw..is exactly what they just did, granted he's "only" 27, but he's ran like he was 35 for two years now. Rather, I'm saying if cheap depth is the goal, why not sign Ameer? Why not sign Duke? Why not sign TJ Yeldon? Get someone who could at least contribute in some facet of the game??

The hypocrisy is almost hilarious to me that I get laughed at for suggesting AP or Gurley, who both were actually at least semi productive last year, yet the prevailing thought that keeps coming back is "he's done" "he's got nothing left" yet this guy, who has NEVER had anything to begin with, let alone have any of it left, gets defended.

I know this wasn't directed at me. But I will chime in anyway.

You're looking for a used car for your kid to drive to and from work/school.
Car A
There's a nice 2008 BMW with 250K miles since the previous owner was an Uber driver.
You stumble across his social media profile and see him doing burnouts and racing up and down streets.
A few minor mechanical things have been replaced. But it's still operating fine.

Car B
Then you find a 2012 Honda Civic with 50K miles. Its up there in age too.
But it was seldom used by an older couple who religiously took it in for service.
Acceleration is a problem. It's not flashy. But you will trust it gets your kid where they need to go.

I take it Treff is slapping down money for the Beemer.
