hello friday:suds:

Sports Illustrated's Robert Klemko reports Antonio Brown sent harassing text messages to the unnamed accuser who shared allegations of his unwanted advance toward her in 2017.
Brown allegedly sent intimidating messages in a group text, including a screenshot of her kids. The accuser's lawyer has sent a letter to the NFL asking them to step in. This is the latest incident that puts Brown's status with the league in jeopardy, as the Personal Conduct Policy prohibits "harassment, or similar forms of intimidation." With a potential placement on the commissioner's exempt list hanging over him, Brown's Week 3 availability looks up in the air.

I still feel like this is all smoke. Probably wouldn’t get much value trying to trade him right now either :tsk:

Let’s hope the NFL doesn’t suspend a guy when no court procedures have taken place. Hopefully they learned after the Zeke debacle

learned a lesson? In what way? Right or wrong, the "personal conduct code" isnt about legal or illegal, the courts have nothing to do with any of it. Its about the public perception of the league. A black eye is a black eye, wether it can be proven in a court of law, or even if it isnt illegal activity.
If they learned a lesson, it was that they can do whatever they want do. The Zeke case certainly didnt deter them, if anything it emboldened them even further. The only thing that makes them "learn a lesson" is anything that hurts the bottom line. Thus far the only thing proven to hurt the bottom line is the kneeling BS, and they finally got a ha dle on that. If they do not punish players harrasing, assaulting, raping women, that'll hurt the bottom line too, so they're going to do whatever they feel is in their best interests, regardless of the courts or DA's, or the police..that's the lesson they learned.

Why do you think guys like Gordon are reinstated? The public perception is primarily that weed isnt that big of a deal, so they're going easier than they would've five years ago. The public perception of men distepecting women in any way, on the other hand, is not so friendly, nothing the league does (or doesn't do) in this current climate in regards to those types of issues, would surprise me, and it shouldn't surprise anyone.
They have a reputation to build/protect, piss on the courts. They'll follow their own investigation.

Patriots released WR Antonio Brown.
The Pats confirmed the move with the following statement: "The New England Patriots are releasing Antonio Brown. We appreciate the hard work of many people over the past 11 days, but we feel that it is best to move in a different direction at this time." The move comes amidst increasingly disturbing reports regarding Brown's involvement in various sexual assault accusations. The Patriots will move forward with Josh Gordon, Julian Edelman and Phillip Dorsett in 3-WR sets. There is a strong chance 31-year-old Brown never plays another down of NFL football.

The blurb on FantasyPros about Brown being cut by the Pats suggest holding on to him if you have him rostered in case he gets picked up by another team.

WUT!?!

Like who the hell is gonna take a chance on him right now? I say at the very least, he's done for this year and teams will wait to see if he get cleared of all his legal (civil) stuff. Then and only them when will some teams give him a look in the offseason

Yeah I thought about you and your decision to hold onto Brown. Bummer for you. Think Brown is likely done in the NFL .

Not really a bummer. No different than if a player got injured. Plus, the couple of days I had him on the Block, no one put up an offer anyway. And that was before all the legal stuff came out. Oh well. It was worth the risk. If he could have kept his hands away from his phone, it would have worked out fine

If he’s on your roster might as well hold to see if something changes.

But that was before he had the sexual misconduct stuff to deal with. Even if he's cleared of the civil trial, the texts he sent to his other accuser likely violates the NFL's personal conduct policy (harassment and intimidation). At the very least, he's gonna face some kind of suspension for that. You figure no team is going to sign him until the NFL finishes its investigation and factor in that he's probably gonna have a suspension anyway, you're probably looking at something very late in the season in the absolute best case scenario for him right now.

He could serve them without being signed but that's under the assumption they suspend ASAP, which isn't going to happen. You gotta think what the most likely outcomes are. It's more likely they take their time with this now, effectively using this as a psuedo-suspension knowing no team will sign him at the moment. Then, later on in a few weeks, actually hit him with a real suspension. I do not see how he's going to have any fantasy relevancy in the near future to warrant stashing him on your bench. Like Kareem Hunt is barely rostered in most leagues and we know for a fact he'll be coming back. Brown, not so much. And you mentioned Gordon earlier, he pretty much has to come back at some point as well. This is a different scenario. The texts he sent have basically made him radioactive. It's the thing that pushed the reactor to meltdown

Anything other than a super deep league where the wire is basically bupkis anyway (like back backup RBs and 4th WRs that see minimal targets a game), there's not much reason to keep him around. You could use that roster spot for something more productive.
