NFL Network's James Palmer reports there is "optimism" the Saints and holdout WR Michael Thomas will reach a deal "sooner rather than later."
Thomas is looking to become the highest-paid receiver in the league, an honor he probably deserves after catching 321 passes for 3,787 yards and 23 touchdowns through his first three seasons. If the two sides are truly close to a deal, it would seem the Saints are willing to make that kind of commitment. Assuming all of this gets worked out prior to Week 1, Thomas will be an elite WR1 for fantasy purposes.

Kelley is wearing the number that was assigned to Buck Allen, who has not practiced so far in camp because of an injury, so that likely means he is replacing Allen on the roster. Kelley had a good run in Washington, but there is not much exciting about his game. He will be lucky to grab a roster spot out of camp.

If they signed Fat Rob, they definitely would have signed Alf...hope n pray its just a camp body..Buck Allen, Dwayne Washington, Ozigbo..all have more to offer than either of them would

(Rotoworld) Panthers OC Norv Turner wants to be "smarter" about Christian McCaffrey's usage.

Analysis: Turner said he was "concerned" about the number of times McCaffrey handled the ball last season, which was 326. He then quickly added that CMC's touches wouldn't necessarily decrease, but that perhaps his snaps would. Absurdly, CMC came off the field for only 22 plays before Week 17 last season. This is a little bit stronger, but the Panthers have generally paid very weak lip service to scaling back CMC's work, while only fifth-rounder Jordan Scarlett was added to the backfield. Ultimately, it's hard to believe McCaffrey will be anything other than a heavily-used workhorse.
