Howard Balzer reports Texans owner Bob McNair has "signed off" on working out Colin Kaepernick following Deshaun Waton's season-ending knee injury.

Although probably an unknown name to many Rotoworld readers, Balzer has long been plugged into NFL circles. Ignoring all the politics — literal and figurative — Kaepernick would be a no-brainer addition for the Texans. Tom Savage arguably isn't good enough to even be on a 53-man roster. He plays the game of football at a glacial pace. There's no question Kap's play was in steady decline for the 49ers, but he'd also give the Texans an infinitely better shot at winning than Savage. Considering what a flashpoint Kap has become, it's not as simple as just football, but on paper, it would make the Texans considerably better, and keep their playoff hopes alive in the soft AFC South.

Well, any Raider fan can tell ya, that ain't much better than Savage, if at all. the NFL needs to explore moving the trade deadline back a bit..barely halfway through the season, should really be week 12 or so.
