Interesting times for the Saints next season...

Saints QB Derek Carr said he “wouldn’t take a pay cut.”

“I wouldn’t take anything less to do this. It’s hard enough putting our bodies through it. And you’re trying to get everything you can for your family for it,” Carr added. Carr’s offseason status is an interesting one because the state of his wrist could mean a lot for the Saints. If he cannot pass a physical, his $30 million salary is guaranteed for injury. The Saints, perpetually over the cap, will likely have to restructure his deal to reduce his cap hit of $51.458 million. The Saints could also throw a post-June 1 designation on a release to spread his dead money hit if they so choose. That decision is one that awaits the next head coach of the Saints, whoever that may be.

Now THIS is funny!!

Cowboys denied Bears’ request to interview HC Mike McCarthy for their open head coaching position.

The Bears had requested to interview McCarthy on Monday for their head coaching vacancy, but the possibility of him heading to the Windy City has lessened. The Cowboys denied the Bears’ request, perhaps an indicator they view McCarthy as a part of their 2025 plans. The Bears still have a long list of candidates to interview while the Cowboys are reeling from a 7-10 season. If they still want to interview McCarthy, they can do so after January 14th, when his exclusive negotiating window with the Cowboys expires. Meanwhile, the Cowboys look prepared to go down the path of retaining McCarthy; it would be his sixth season with the team.

Meh.. if he stays he stays. Assuming Prescott stays healthy, and they find a RB, and a Ol or two, they'll win 10+, and fail in the playoffs, could be worse.

If he goes, he goes, they still might win 10+, and lose in the playoffs.. or be worse.

I don't think anyone can take this bunch and be a SB team, that's just not who they are

Oh shit they don't want me. I'm trading Caleb., K. Allen, DJ Moore, and Swift, signing Sam Darnold/Andy Dalton/Joe Flacco, drafting Ashton Jeanty, and for the next 4 years all other draft picks will be OL and defense. I will take them back to the Sweetness, Monsters of the midway, days and hope it works in today's game
I just feel like Chicago is a bad place for “elite” QBs to thrive. You want a tough leader who gets it done there, so if any place is the place for GM Treff, it’s Chicago.

Still think they should have traded down and taken Penix.

McCarthy would've been a nice fit too. Blue collar, manage the run game, bullseye play action passer.. my kinda guy.

I liked either more than Caleb..I'm not closing the book on my opinion of the guy, but he sure did nothing to change that opinion

This might be a minor thing, but in the disastrous role of being the Bears QB, I have heard so many post-game interviews from Cutler, Trubisky and Fields talk about how they have to execute better.

Let's face it, that's a fairly broad and generic statement. To execute better.

To his credit, when asked about certain plays, Caleb will dissect how the play unfolded, maybe how the defense disrupted it, or maybe things he should have noticed prior to the snap, and how specific things may have led to the outcome of the play.

I haven't heard too many QB (at least in this town) have the ability to be able to explain things in that kind of detail without being generic.

Like I said, I think the general vibe among fans is that if he isn't running for his life and we get the right head coach, Caleb could (at minimum) be the best Bears QB in history. (Sorry Luckman, Cutler, Kramer, Miller and McMahon).
