So I have never done any auction style drafts for any sport. Do we already know how much we will start with? man, this sounds interesting.

I've never done one either and looking forward to it....

I looked through all the league settings and don't see where payroll is listed so I'm assuming it's some standard amount that they use in all their auction drafts instead of a configurable setting........which is good so all the auction draft cheat sheets will be based off the same budget.....

All the mock drafts that I have been apart of - are at $260. Which is what ours is at currently.

I may add $40 to add some fluff...but we'll see.

A key thing to remember about auction drafts is that the price you pay during the draft is just that, for the draft. There is no salary cap during the season. I was in a league where the players value fluctuates during the course of the year, which you would have to keep an eye on when doing transactions. It was fun but a pain in the ass at times.

Wow!

Why would you play in a league like that? So if you did real good picking value players in the draft, and they played better then their draft value, you were forced to cut players to get cheaper ones to stay under a hard cap while your player values fluctuated throughout the season?????

I've heard lots of different scoring systems and rules, but that has to be about the dumbest......talk about changing the rules in the middle of a game.....

Leagues
Roto - http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/b1/register/tos?league_id=61675&password=SportsHoopla

H2H - http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/b1/register/tos?league_id=61686&password=SportsHoopla

Both are set to 8 teams...but if we can get a pair to join at a time... could increase to 10-14.

Currently, the h2h league is category based. However, if the majority wants it to be point based... I'm open to switching it to that as well. (think fantasy football scoring)

Draft times and scoring system changes are flexible as well.

I don't want to be too demanding, but can we discuss the scoring system for the H2H league? I really like the categories you picked for the roto league, but am struggling to see what you are going for with the H2H league....

IMO in a weekly H2H, having obscure categories leads to too many ties, and we are baseball, not hockey.....ties suck!

Grand slams and pitchers getting double plays against just seems too fringe to me to be a category to compete for week in and week out......

You don't even have WHIP listed for pitchers in the H2H league.......the single most IMHO important pitcher rate category......

Honestly, I'd think the categories you have set for roto would be great for H2H as well......

I'll offer some suggestions if we want to change things up, but I don't want to seem like I'm trying to dictate how the league is going to be set up.....I'd like to hear why you picked those categories and see what other folks think as well....

Honestly - its the same settings/stats/etc that Ive played with in leagues prior. It can be revamped.

I can make it a "points" H2H system. Which would make things more like football scoring. IE 89.34 - 75.77
Which would assist with the tie issue. But some of the stats would make some players more valuable than others in that instance. (IE - Apparently Aaron Hill was the best player in fantasy last season........according to a points based system i'm in)

That said, really....there are only a few categories different between the 2 leagues. I can make them match....no issues there.

We have an odd # of teams anyway. We need one more before anything else happens.

Nights work best for me, but that's selfish I know. I only know the weekend of the 23/24 I won't be able to do. After 6:30 Central time I'm golden on any other day.

Yes. We still need 1 more team for h2h, which would put us at a full 10 teams.

Roto has been stuck on 6 teams.

If we can't get more then 8......we're only at 6 now, I'd recommend changing it to an AL only league.......I'd rather it be NL because I know more about it, but y'all are mostly Rangers fans so I'd restrict it to AL only.....

I'm not going to participate in any mixed league with 6 teams.....:L.....what's the point we would all have teams of all stars.......
