With almost half the season done we have an idea on what the skins weaknesses are and what we should address in the off season. What players should we go after in free agency and what positions should we address in the draft?

Draft: LB, OL, S, CB, WR

That's our needs in a nutshell, so we'll go in order.

LB- Paul Posluszny OL- Branden Albert S- Jairus Byrd CB- Aquib Talib WR- Hakeem Nicks

Despite the fact that we'll be $35 million under the cap, next season, I'm sure all of these players will not be signed. I would say 3 out of 5. Who knows?! As far as the draft, we won't have a 1st round pick.....again. What's worse, it could be a very high pick. :L I would say that the 2nd round pick could very well be an OT or a ILB. I would say that Nicks and Byrd should be at the top of the list in FA to fill the WR and FS position.

WR- Kenny Britt replaces Josh Morgan and costs less
OT- Ryan Harris comes in and mover Polumbus to a backup
ILB- Keith Rivers takes over for LFB. If he returns to CIN form, great pickup.
FS- Jairus Byrd takes over for nobody because nobody is playing FS.
CB- Antoine Cason comes in to compete with Josh Wilson.
CB- Aqib Talib comes in to start with David Amerson.

Talib and Byrd are the only reasonably expensive players. Offer Byrd 4 mil/season and Talib 7 mil/season. I expect both will get a little more but that should be our offer.

Free agents to target:

OL - Kevin Boothe - three year starter on giants oline. Big body (320 lbs). Probably too heavy I guess. Solid starter. Not going to break the bank
C - Evan Dietrich-Smith - Packers starting center. 308 lbs, 6'2" 4 year starter
Breno Giacomini - Russell Wilson's RT, 4 year starter
Michael Oher - RT for Ravens, 4 year starter

and of course, Branden Albert (too rich for my blood, personally)

CB - Tramiane Brock - newly promoted #3 cb in SF (ahead of Nnamdi Asomough)
Cb - Perrish Cox - #2 cb in SF
S - Jarius Byrd - everybody wants him, yet he's only 5'8"
CB - Antoine Cason - #2/#3 cb opposite Patrick Peterson

LB

Slim Pickings - Akeem Jordan - formerly of Philly, now in KC. a pretty good ILB

DL (pass rusher especially)

Michael Bennett - Seattle
Michael Johnson - Cinci
Ropati Pitoitua - Tennessee - 6'7", 298 lbs, and 4 sacks already this year.

WR
Danario Alexander - 6'4"Chargers Wr on IR this year
Kenny Britt - 6'3" Titans
Julian Edelman - take Moss's place, provide the Welker/Amandola crossing route wr AND emergency qb
James Jones - Packers
Emmanuel Sanders - Steelers

All players are young UFA's who have either been starters or are about to be starters this year. All would be cheaper than others b/c they aren't going to be the premier free agents at their positions.

Well done Gkekoa, what about the following instead:

CB- Antoine Cason = no brainer
CB- Sam Shields = he is 2 years younger than Talib. Talib is a great CB and I would have no problem with it.
FS - Jairus Byrd = our first FA to sign hopefully. Would be an outstanding pickup.
WR - Kenny Britt = no brainer as well.
LB - Brandon Spikes = he is younger than Rivers.

That would clean out most of the cap room. We would use the high 2nd rounder on a RT and the 3rd rounder would hopefully be a Guard. The OLine is terrible. The FA class and draft would address all issues.

board patrol?
we had a bet and you lost. I expect you will keep the catoons here

you have a problem with reading comprehension ? Go back and read our conversation ... we never made any bets. We made an agreement not to post on each others boards, an agreement you have now broken in less then 3 days, because you're a troll and can not help youself.

Seeing how your posts here have nothing to do with the topic of the thread and are an obvious attempt to derail the conversation GTFO

cut & paste to word and then copied. Sorry, computers are still somewhat typewriters with electronic white out to me

I can keep my comments to the smack talk but no way in hell do I post the cartoons and point a stick like Krush or mitziman. These two are catnip wannabe's and call foul when their team can't cash the checks they wrote.

You guys won 7 in a row to take the east after being 3-6 but now after a lose to Dallas it's free agent choices? Where are all the real redskin football fans?

For the reading impaired….

I'll ban myself.
Just agree to stay over here and I'll accept to not post over here.

What part of that agreement do you not seem to understand ? If this is such a big deal to you lets take it to PM ... no need for you to continue to hijack our threads with your pointless drivel

What do you rank our top 3 needs for position improvement either through draft or FA?

I think: 1) OL 2) CB 3) LB

OL, LB, P

Here are my top 5.

1. RT
2. ILB
3. Safety
4. WR
5. Punter

If we trade Cousins and get a quality draft pick, we would be able to address quite a bit of depth via the draft.

Awesome research! I agree with all of the targets. I think we wil address ILB with our 2nd round pick. Its exciting that we will almost get to the point where we build depth through the draft and don't have to use free agency for every little thing. Here is what I am thinking:

CB: Sam Shields (our #1 CB)
ILB: Brandon Spikes (fill Fletcher's spot)
WR: Erick Decker (we have to have a legit #2 WR opposite Garcon)
RT: Eugene Monroe (we need to have bookend tackles)
Nickel CB: Parish Cox (Brock has overtaken Cox)

Those 5 signings would drastically improve our team, however, they would deplete our available salary cap as well. The draft would then focus on Guard, Safety and DLine. Assuming we trade Cousins and get a high draft pick, we could easily use 2nd and 3rd round picks to address the remaining holes. Draft the best available punter in the 4th round.

Thank you! I think volume guys in positions of need is a better move than spending a ton of cash on a few players. Competition at as many positions as possible. Very few secured spots.

And seriously, the redskins don't have THAT many spots nailed down on defense....

When Crawford, Thomas, and Robinson come back from injuries - all the better...

Hope springs eternal, but I honestly think we will be in a much better spot next year with cap room to spend and another draft class on the field. We have been drafting well lately and I think the trend continues.

I'd stay away from Britt, he's an idiot. How many times has he been arrested again? 4-5??? I lost count.
