"Duff Man…Oh Yeah!"
From espn in:
The contract talks between Matt Cain and the Giants, and those between the Philadelphia Phillies and Cole Hamels, remain in holding patterns. Each team knows what it will take to sign its respective pitcher, and both teams know there's an excellent chance that if they don't pay, some other team will pay in the fall if the players become free agents.
It's perfectly reasonable, given the circumstances, for each pitcher to want and expect a market-price deal for something in the range of 5-6 years at $20-24 million a year. It's also perfectly reasonable for the Giants and the Phillies to pass. We'll see what happens.
