This only happens if we release Jones. Cant see it any other way. I also think we may even move Ziggy to the left side. He can play any position on the line.

We don't go with a LDE and a RDE in Austin's system like we did with Schwartz. We run a strong-side DE (Jones) to two-gap and hold the point of attack, and a weak side DE (Ansah) to hold the back side.

It's a big difference in philosophy from Schwartz who was so cocky and sure of his system that he made it very easy by having right and left DE's, and right and left OLBs. Austin realizes that moving his players around makes it much harder on the opposing offense to identify what defense we're running on a given play...

Maybe I didn't word it too well... I was saying that Ziggy is already on the left side, and the right side, depending on what the offense is lined up in...

Speaking of Devin Taylor. He flashed as a rookie but was a complete no-show in year two. What happened?

Taylor kind of went the same path when he was at South Carolina. He flashed as a Sophomore then wasn't as much of a factor in his Junior/Senior seasons from a Stat point or in his play. Having Clowney as a line-mate should have taken the heat off of him. He was known to be hot and cold then. Also, I think you have to evaluate a player according to his reps/snaps. Sometimes, for guys like him, you need that higher count in snaps to get into a rhythm.

I think usage was a big factor. Jones was healthy, and Johnson and Tapp both played really well...

speaking of that 5 technique DE.. One kid that I find quite interesting for LDE in this draft is Oregon's Arik Armstead... just a thought... He needs some refinement in technique but man is this kid powerful and explosive....some have him as a 3-4 DE. He's much better than Devin Taylor from an athletic standpoint and his motor is non-stop, unlike Taylor, who is hot and cold

Just say nooooo to Arik Armstead. Has any Oregon duck been any good in the pro's?

I'd welcome Jones and/or Tulloch back at the right price, and cutting Pettigrew for only $800,000 doesn't add up, but I'm down with jettisoning Bush for sure...

I agree but Wow, I thought I was the only one defending Tulloch at the right price. My only question is will Tulloch be able to bounce back from his injury, pass defense is his strong suit. Everyone seems happy to let him go while giving Tahir the nod.

He will want too much. Whiteheads much cheaper and produces similar results. Helps he plays with levy and suh.

Tulloch will sign on the cheap, so we should bring him back.
