So it basically turns into the NBA playoffs where the top 8 teams from each conference make it? Should make the last week of the season more entertaining.

Yeah, the difference is the disparity between the top 4-5 teams in the NBA and the rest of them isn't nearly as great as it is in the MLB.

The NBA is very much a haves and have nots kind of league.

The MLB has the payroll disparity, but an 8 seed knocking out the Dodgers in a 3 game series (IE if a couple of their pitchers get hot) is a lot more likely than an 8 seed knocking out the Lakers.

I think it's fine, but the top seeds get screwed a bit. No reward, you can still get bounced in a best of 3 right off the bat.

The league is considering an option where division winners pick their first-round opponents in a 16-team playoff, per ESPN's Buster Olney.


Picks would be made based on seeding and unveiled during a selection show.

Short season with expanded playoffs will have teams feeling in it with still like half the season to go. Combined with the fact there still is the possibility the season gets shut down any moment so a trade could become a absolute bust.

Short season with expanded playoffs will have teams feeling in it with still like half the season to go. Combined with the fact there still is the possibility the season gets shut down any moment so a trade could become a absolute bust.

I tend to lean towards that as well. I still think relievers will be on the move, they just might be at a premium.
