I went to a college prep catholic school that brought in athletes from disadvantaged areas to bolster the program, gave them athletic scholarships and many to most couldn't do the school work. Bryce Young went there before he transferred to Mater Dei . He's one of the few who took full advantage. The family structure is pretty critical. Micheal Oher would be going home to a mother who was either high or on the streets. He seems like someone who would get sidetracked easily . Yeah all this looks bad for the family but like I said, there's no movie without them and pretty good chance his god given ability never gets to its full potential. Its a sad situation. I completely don't understand this whole thing people have with their college alma mater, the financial gatekeeping around college education or why people even pay much attention to college sports.

Playing devils advocate here. Without the Tuoghys there is no Blind Side movie. That's just reality. So there would be no money to split at all. Without the Tuoghys he's either living with a drug addict mom, on the streets or in the foster care system during his high school years.. Does he ever get the grades go to college and excel without that family structure?

5 star recruits are future NFL guys.

Barring catastrophic injury or prison, almost always. It’s not much of an ability to take one and then get him into your alma mater, then profit off him. Other than an ability to capitalize on a naive kid.

No, he wasn't 7 ft or a 5 star QB in hg school. He was 6'5" 350 pounds. Ranked the 38th best player in the country by 247Sports Composite, the 6th best OT in the country n #2 recruit overall in the state of Tenn. And had received visits from Nick Saban, Lou Holtz, Tommy Tuberville n Houston Nutt.

It's almost like there's no ,middle ground. Either the Tuoheys really had his best interest at heart and the freedom he did have with NFL money he wasted, so he needed someone watching. Or he was just naive and they took advantage of him for years.

There's a middle ground. It benefitted both, but the family ended up wanting to share the wealth within the family.

I mean it's gotta disrupt the other kids' lives to have Oher move in; that's not a real reason for anything, but it's a way for the parents to start rationalizing their shitty moves.
