So I'm up by 1.1 points right now, the other guy is done. If JJones (BWI) doesn't do anything in the last two minutes then I have enough points to win and have Douglas (ATL) going tomorrow night. I know it is unlikely that he gets me negative points, but anyone ever sat a guy to preserve a win? I'm thinking I might if my lead holds.

The tie breaker is points scored, but if I lost next week the only two guys that could catch me would be well ahead of me.

So no upside to playing him. To the bench!

Seems a tad unethical to me, but, if you can live with it.

Btw..you might not want to forget about possible scoring changes, possible incorrect live scoring info. ..1.1 pts. Isn't much wiggle room if a stat or two gets changed.

I see no ethical issue with this. Any start/sit decision you make that improves your chance to win is fair game.

Throwing a game for some type of benefit is where ethics come into play.

I agree, no ethics involved here.

yea, between all of my leagues, I've actually seen this strategy used a few times. No need to play 6 if 5 can get you enough points, imo.

I didn't even replace a K on bye one week cause I knew I would get the win and didn't want to give up any of my bench guys. I'd classify that as very similar to what you are doing.

I've done both. I really hate playing with kickers and defenses and have several times in the past just grabbed the pats at both, played them through the bye, and won those games regardless.

I've also benched a guy once or twice with a close game over, but only if the guy I was benching was one I didn't think would get at least 5 or so (enough to cover a turnover or two). I won a game I would have lost with the guy I benched in maybe a grand total of once, but with little downside I did it anyways.

Not a fan of being able to do that.

Just another reason as to why it should be mandatory ones line-up should be in before the early games start Sunday.

Treff brings up a very good point. If the powers-that-be decide to amend some scoring, that 1.1 may not be enough. Especially if this involves any IDP players or scoring for tackles. I'd play Douglas.

Bingo.

You will feel really dumb if a stat correction comes out Tuesday and you end up losing with Douglas on your bench.

You are far more likely to lose via stat correction than Douglas is to get -1.1.

In week 12, I went to sleep Monday night with a hard fought 1 point victory in 1 league. I woke up Tuesday morning with a 3 point loss following a stat correction for Dez Bryant. He lost 20 yards, which also cost me a 2 point bonus he had earned for going over 100.

In that league, I would have been the 5th seed if my victory stood. Instead, I finished 7th and missed the playoffs. Since my team did well in weeks 14 and 15, I would have been in the title game this week.

There was nothing I could have don differently, but I did want you to be aware that stat corrections can change outcomes.

Also depends on the scoring system. Douglas has to make a catch in order to fumble, so if it's PPR you're probably okay with a fumble anyway. Like Mr. Mojo Risin' says, the rules probably should have prohibited it in the first place. Don't mess with fantasy juju.

I would never ever play in a league that had lineups lock once early Sunday games started. There are injured players who are true game time decisions on a regular basis in later games.
