Even if we finish #2 in the West, I still want Michael Malone gone

It might go down as the Luka Doncic trade of coaches in terms of city popularity, but it’s one I believe is necessary...

In spite of a recent title, CBS this week ranked Denver the #24 front office out of 30 teams. I don’t believe that ranking is justified, and firmly believe it’s more a reflection on Malone than it is on Calvin Booth.

Young or old, Denver’s bench players have absolutely no chemistry with the starters, and it’s a result of a complete lack of reps… Booth has made considerable effort to replenish the Nuggets’ bench through the draft and free agency (Saric, a 38% 3PT shooter in GS at a reasonable cost of two years/$10M), but he and Malone clearly aren’t on the same page.

A rumored rift between Malone and Booth is absolutely justified, as Malone is grown overly comfortable with his starting five as a result of that title (think Thibs and his Bulls days)…

I am happy how Jalen Pickett has played lately off the bench… Gave us a breath of fresh air during the recent winning streak. But, of course, he was back to being buried as soon as Russ came back from his hamstring strain.

In garbage time last night, Pickett made a three that allowed us to reach triple digits in what was otherwise a dreadful performance against the Lakers…

Not finding a true backup big to survive the non Jokic minutes for years now been an epic failure by the front office
We did have I-Hart at one point... But again, Malone failed to use him and Tim Connelly proceeded to throw him and two second rounders away to bring back JaVale McGee as our 12th man.

Forgot about that but that is the most clear need for them when it comes to improving their bench. The other positions are solid

They aren't deep but they have a nice playoffs rotation bench excluding the C spot

It is completely Malone’s fault he’s not playing the quality bench players that the front office didn’t get for the team.

Look at the quality of opponent in the recent winning streak. There is a reason you saw more of the bench.

You already had a thread on this topic, why are we beating a dead horse?

4 questions that every team should ask themselves before firing their coach.

1) Is the issue roster construction or coaching?

2.) Who is out there who is better and that you can actually get?

3.) Would your opponents like to see that coach retire/get fired?

4.) How long do you think he will remain unemployed?

In the Nuggets case, those answers are...

1.) @bksballer89 answered that one for you.

2.) No one.

3.) Yes.

4.) Not long.

Saric is hot garbage and couldn't get minutes on a mediocre Warriors team last year LOL

Of course this is your take. You think a bad bench is a good bench, because you are often wrong about the NBA

I have a solution to fix the Nuggets bench issues.

Just bring Jokic, Murray and Porter off the bench.

They will lead the league in bench scoring and Hurricane will be happy!

Nico approved fix:

Trade Jokic to the Pacers for Siakam, Mathurin and a future 1st.

I’m a Malone fan - certainly don’t always agree with his rotations and not playing young players. (Doesn’t that sound like the fan of every team re their coach.) But he sets a strong culture and demands a lot of his players. And they seem to respect him and I don’t hear much locker room turmoil. He’s a passionate New Yorker that I can laugh at because he’s my team’s coach. But probably would irritate me if he were an opponents coach.

Oh, and Jokic loves him and as long as the big guy is happy, that’s what’s best for the team.

Exactly.

Firing a coach is a major gamble. And he has been incredibly successful winning a title and been among the top teams in the West year in and year out.

Who you going to replace him with who will do better?

Monty Williams of course. Going to be tough to steal him away from TMI Episcopal
