Does espn.com still play a 1 minute crystal clear ad before showing you a 20 second highlight comprised of 3 pixels?

Now that they are lame duck MLB broadcasters, when you go to the ESPN.com to look for sports scores, the drop downs are in this order:

NFL NBA NHL NCAAM NCAAW Soccer MLB More Sports

MLB after soccer, right before 'other' lol

Yea I noticed that too. At least they didn't hide it under "More Sports".

Just look how shamefully this story is framed on ESPN.com.

Is this Deadspin? Is it HuffPo Sports? I’m not sure how to react.

Lame.

Trump made it political and ESPN reported on it.

From the article:

“Trump complimented "the very talented people" who beat the New York Yankees in five games, while also refusing to introduce some Democratic senators at the ceremony because "I just don't particularly like them, so I won't introduce [them]."

Totally unnecessary and on brand for that fat orange fuck.

I actually agree with that critique. He doesn’t need to shit talk senators in that environment. But it also has nothing to do with the story. ESPN(the worldwide leader in sports) can report on the Dodgers going to the White House and leave the social commentary to others. But they didn’t stop there:

Interjecting race into this simple story:
“The 32-year-old Betts is the lone Black player on the Dodgers who returned from last season's World Series team.”

More race:
“The trip came almost a month after a Department of Defense web page describing Brooklyn Dodgers great and civil rights icon Jackie Robinson's military service was restored after it had come down.”

More race and DEI:
“That development came after pages honoring a Black Medal of Honor winner and Japanese American service members were taken down -- which the Pentagon said was a mistake -- amid the department's effort to remove content singling out the contributions by women and minority groups, which the Trump administration considers "DEI."”

Again. This is a simple story about the Dodgers going to the White House, having a few laughs and taking a few photos. This was a lay-up for ESPN, but they had to go all Joy Reid on it and I think that’s just not their role in the media landscape. It’s also probably a big part of the reason why so many have bailed on ESPN, in general.

Nope, it’s your interpretation that’s the issue not the article.

The commentary on race provides a context that many teams - the dodgers being the subject of this article - consider when deciding if they are going to visit rhe white house when an asshole is in charge.

Betts being the only black dodger matters to Betts, which is why the next paragraph of the article is included:

“"Nobody else in this clubhouse has to go through a decision like this except me," Betts said over the weekend. "That's what makes it tough. But it is what it is. I'm not trying to make this political by any means at all. All it is is just me being with my team to celebrate something. It's a privilege to get an invitation like this. I just want to be there with them."

Obviously thus administration’s record on race relations matters to the Dodgers, which is why it was included in the article.

Rightly so: drumpfy has a poor record on race relations.

Mentioning someones race is not DEI

Racism is specifically targeting people of color in the Pentagon and having their accolades removed. So if there is no need for DEI as people like you contend, what is the reaction to that supposed to be

it's almost like "DEI" is used as a dog whistle

LOL. No he doesn’t. That’s such a stupid boogeyman to be playing in 2025. This was a fashionable talking point in 2015 & 2016…but it’s just mind-numbingly stupid now. Trump grew his base with every single minority in the last election. Every single one.

Back to ESPN. They are inventing controversy where none is needed. They’ll do the exact same thing when the Eagles go to the White House soon, too.
