The Cincinnati Bengals will be without tight end Tyler Eifert (concussion) on Monday night against the Broncos, NFL Media's Rand Getlin reports.

Eifert exited the Bengals' Week 14 loss to the Steelers after taking a hit from Steelers safety Mike Mitchell. He has since remained in concussion protocol.

Getlin adds that the Bengals are not eager to rush Eifert back and though nothing is definitive yet, there is a chance he won't be back in action until the playoffs.

I'll bet he doesn't play in the playoffs either

Gracious, that guy is a walking injury waiting to happen. We are rather fortunate we got as much use out of him this year as we got.

And if he does come back and AJ is still the quarterback they will not have had any in-game playing time so we can expect overt throws and drops when its thrown his way.

Exactly.........The Bengals would be wise to have a nice insurance plan in place for him next season....Or just cut ties with him and let him go rob another organization of money

He's being paid a rookie contract and he's had a pro-bowl season. He was knocked out by a cheap-shot artist..... I don't think this means he's 'stealing money.'

It would be nice if one of these years he can start and finish a playoff game

Yup, hes been a very solid red zone target for sure.....But strikes me as that player will continue to break your heart as a fan when you need him most...Didnt he miss the game prior to getting knocked out with the concussion? Seems like one of those "Always something" players

I'm reading that he hasn't been ruled out for Denver.... Still in protocol, but could come out by tomorrow.

Yep. Just saw that. Let's hope that he does well today, and he'll be out of the protocol tomorrow.

And unlike other injuries, you can't play your way through a concussion...not anymore. League personnel pull you from a game, and you are pretty much SOL for at least a week. Especially after the hit he took from Mitchell. Direct to the back of the head/helmet.

He has been officially ruled out now. Looks like Iloka is out as well. For the Broncos this is the healthiest we have been in weeks with only 14 names appearing on the injury list instead of 22 like last week.

Bad news for us..... I think we need Sanu to have a big game. He's had catches here and there, but he hasn't been a difference maker in any of our games.

Marvin Jones has been pretty useless this year too

I wouldn't say useless.

Led the Bengals in receiving 3 times, which isn't a lot granted, but shows that he still is a viable option. The key factor for him has been Eifert's emergence. Much like why Green is barely in the top 20 in targets this year, with a healthy TE finding the soft spots in the middle as teams try and pressure Dalton, he's gotten a lot of passes that used to go Jone's way.

His speed is a factor that defenses have to take into account. I think teams have been playing a lot of cover 2 deep, and cover 3 trying to take away the deep outs and deep middle passes. Dalton has done a great job this year of picking teams a part underneath, and then taking his shots deep when he sees the 1-1 coverage or the middle open for Eifert.

both Sanu and Jones are up for free agency, we lose at least one of them via free agency (remember baby hawk), perhaps even both of them. meanwhile we are stuck with brandon tate for life. alford will likely assume the slot receiver roll and we are likely to draft our next #2 in the second round, although I fully expect Tate to be the starter week 1 .

Of the two, I'd keep Jones..... Sanu looked promising until the middle of last season, when apparently he forgot how to play football.

Absolutely. However this team values those two way more than they should. More than likely they'll let our key defensive free agents walk to "save" cap space for Jones and Sanu. Then proceed to not resign either one.
