Fixed it for you.
You know we are longtime Mariner fans when bad things happen and our first thought is, its the Mariners what else was going to happen?

I know we have Griffey in but Edgar will always be my favorite Mariner, he never quit on us.

It's encouraging since with (I believe) two Seattle writers are getting votes next year it will just leave him 17 short and generally will give him a boost for his last year. I was watching the MLB network and it is just astonishing how every single player that played with him or against him says he is easily a HOFer but writers don't.

I get some people don't think Edgar was the most feared RH hitter of the 90's because Frank Thomas has better overall numbers but I'd take the word of Pedro, Rivera and Randy over a piece of paper with numbers on it.

Pretty confident he will rightfully get in next year. From what I heard, I believe no one has ever received > 70% of the votes one year and then not made it in the next.

True, but it's BS that Edgar never tested positive for PED's but Ortiz gets a pass from the Mitchell report because he is a likable guy.
Ortiz also has advantages of post season success, playing in Boston, and having better power numbers (HR-wise). I don't think he's as good a hitter as Edgar was, but he's "Big Papi" and it's the Hall of "Fame" and all.

I think Ortiz should be a hall of famer (I also think Bonds should) but I think him being colorful shouldn't have anything to do with it, if Edgar is knocked for not having the longevity numbers Ortiz should get knocked for testing positive.

And the stat I love the most:

Percentage of Games Played at DH:
Ortiz 84.3%
Edgar 68.3%

Damn, I didn't know that one. I remember seeing him as a kid when he played for Calgary, then saw him blow his knee out in Vancouver. The Mariners weren't on TV alot when he played 3B, didn't realize he played there that much. Just guess I assumed he played mostly DH.

Ya, people assume he was a 80%+ DH, but that would be Mr. Ortiz who shouldn't make the H.O.F because DH's are not complete players, right? This should be interesting.

I don't disagree; I was offering not what I thought should be but instead what I think will be. Ortiz is going to have a much easier time getting in that Edgar, primarily due to the "fame" credentials I mentioned.

Without question, and I won't begrudge voters who will vote him in on the first ballot either. He is colorful and I can understand why people like him but I don't and probably never will understand how he tested positive but noone cares. I know I'm a Homer with Edgar but there are 6,000 excuses on why to keep him out according to writers yet a legitimate argument that is keeping Bonds out doesn't ever get mentioned.

Well ya, they already broke that barrier by allowing failed starters that turned into receivers and overlook them. It's just hypocritical to me. It's not like we are arguing Moyer, Buhner, Dan Wilson or name your beloved Mariner. We are arguing for a guy who has the best DH award named after him, Bud Selig and every pitcher who pitched against him say he is a hall of famer, but voters who rarely saw him don't.

What really makes me laugh is the people who still say Edgar was a DH because he couldn't field (which is provably wrong) while absolutely no one holds being a DH against Ortiz despite the fact he was a DH because he was such a shitty fielder.
