Sad but true... NBA sucks. Celts aren't looking too hot anyway.

It's certainly not just Boston. I enjoy football, myself, but I'm not a huge fan of basketball, and despite it being nigh-unpatriotic, I don't really like baseball either. I think the pecking order around the country is something like

NFL

MLB
NBA
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
NHL

It's unfortunate, but with the lack of television coverage, the inherent niche of the sport itself (hard to start a spontaneous game of ice hockey in Texas), and the slow recovery from the lockout a while back, I think the NHL is on the back burner not just in Boston, but in most of the country. I think Detroit and maybe Minnesota are the only exceptions in areas with several sports (and if my memory serves correctly Minnesota's attendance is starting to drop). Feel free to correct me if you feel differently, of course; this is just my impression and far from a declaration of fact.

I agree for the most part. Even Detroit has dropped... But they are primarily a hockeytown. The Tigers and Lions suck. Boston has the Red Sox and Celts and Pats winning championships left and right now, well in the past 10 years. Hockey is definitely growing though.

Small correction: The Tigers and Lions are contenders compared to the Pistons right now.

IMO Basketbal sucks in general. I would mind playing knockout with friends in middle school, and I would watch the final minutes of March madness games, but I still dislike it.

I dont follow any sport a quarter amount as much as hockey. Next is baseball, that just fills my gap between hockey seasons.

I really dont even consider myself a Phillies fan anymore. I like baseball, but I find it impossible for me to follow since I am not a die hard. I could not watch a game that I don't love every single night.
