To an extent I agree, but as a pro, and Stanley cup winner, and the theoretical #1 goalie, he should have in his make up to come in and go
You're talking about Marc-Andre Fleury here, right?

The same Marc-Andre Fleury who, depite having a SC on his resume, has career playoff stats that are far worse than his regular season stats?

I don't think some fans remember just how mediocre his stats were, even in the better years. Career playoff sv% is something like .910, may be even lower.

And there are exceptions of course, but in general, scoring goes down in the POs, so a goalie with enough games played should be able to post better stats than in the regular season.

His one super bad season tilts those a bit, but not enough to claim he's been a good postseason goalie. 08 he was great, 09 good enough, most other years barely average to awful. And in those years Pens just needed average.

Stats are deceiving tho. In Barrasso's time, the style of play was more wide open, higher scoring games, etc.

In the late-80s / early-90s, teams were averaging 270-300 goals per year. In the last decade, teams only averaged in the low 200s, consistently in the 220s. That's a big difference stat-wise.

And yet Barasso's career PO stats are not all that far off from MAF's.

And if you back out Barasso's three shellings in three seasons with the Sabres (3 of his worst 4 PO years), their stats get much closer.

Big difference in the game too. IMO not a good thing.

I was more of a Wendel Young/Frank Pietrelango type guy. Barrasso was kind of a prick. My favorite was the Moose though.
