Ok Kids... right now the Washington Redskins are 0-3 with no signs of getting much better.

Let's assume both of our picks are in the first 16 (aka non playoff teams)

I have an EXTREMELY radical idea for those picks (unless of course Clowney or Marquise Lee fall to us with the first choice we have)

Let's say hypothetically we draft at #6 and #14

Unless Clowney or Lee falls to us at 6, trade that pick into the teens and add a 3rd rounder
then at #14, trade down into the early twenties and get another 3rd

So it would look a little like this:
1-15
1-22
2
3
3
3
4

By doing that, not only can we still get serious help for this roster, but it will not cost us anything.

Imagine this:

1-15 Ha-Ha Clinton Dix S Alabama
1-22 Brandon Coleman WR Rutgers
2 Lache Seastrunk RB Baylor
3 Seantrel Henderson OT Miami
3 Adrian Hubbard OLB Alabama
3 Travis Swanson C/G Arkansas
4 Dion Bailey CB/S USC

just sayin.....

I'm not sure this team could afford to pass up a top ten talent at any position. I do see what you're saying, but would hate to see us trade out of the top ten. The second pick I could see messing around with.

At this rate the rams could very well maintain the 2nd and 3rd pick of the draft

My early prediction would be something like:

1. Cyrus Kouanddijo OT Alabama
1. Jason Verrett CB TCU
2. Michael Dyer RB Louisville
3. Dion Bailey SS USC

I know Fisher doesn't go OT in round 1 but he looked at Fluker for a looong time before going with Jake Long.

edit: didn't see that you also picked Bailey. I think he'd be a great fit

Watch we or Washington will have a pick where we can get Sammy Wadkins, but we will pass because we already got Tavon and draft somebody else.

Funny because we all know Fisher does not draft O-line guys in the 1st, but we need a Kyle Long type guy and a RB, along with a FS.

And Seastrunk will go higher than in the 2nd. It's soooooo far away and many guys will move up and down bewteen now and April.

The Long-type OL you are looking for SJ76 is JAke Matthews, cousin to Clay. Take this guy in the first. It would be stupid to pass on him and Fisher needs to change that mentality he has because he is passing on some great O-lineman for good ones or second tier and then we will continue to have the substandard O-line that we have now. Or we'd have to go after another FA who may or may not work.

Of course, hence the 'for fun' part. I just glanced at the top prospects lists for WalterFootball and CBSsports and they are very far apart.

I'm also not firmly convinced any RB goes in the first round, especially after what the Browns just did.

I watched Fluker again yesterday at tackle and even though the Chargers lost, Fluker had one helluva a game. Another lineman the Rams passed on to get Austin.

If we would've traded up for anyone but Austin, I think the fan base would've imploded. The problem that draft people had with Austin is that his speed didn't always show up on film in college. I think he still has a chance to be something special but its all too early to make a judgment

It's a fun game and it doesn't much matter who pick. However, you'll get better results if you take into account expiring contracts. Contracts to consider:

QB Sam Bradford option $12.5M?
LG Chris Williams FA
C Scott Wells $5.5M option?
RG Harvey Dahl $4M option?
RT Rodger Saffold FA
DT Kendall Langford $5M option?
LB Will Witherspoon FA
CB Cortland Finnegan $9M option?

Positions under threat:
QB back-up
RB 3 positions
WR Pettis
TE Kendricks & back-ups
DT back-ups
LB back-ups
S McLeod and back-ups

Assume all FAs get better offers from other teams and require replacements. Options not picked up will require replacements. For entertainment purposes you have financial room for 3 good FAs. Now make your Draft picks.

I don't like this game one bit, no not one bit at all!

I would like it a lot better if we were to have pick one in the top ten (Redskins) and another in the bottom ten (Rams)!

Just three weeks into the season, that's all I gotsta say!!!

Cheers!

I think we all know what side of the ball this pick is coming from. You have to draft the best FS or SLB available.

Well Counselor Chris. Therein lies the problem a bit. We have been adding first round defensive players for the last couple of years and except for Austin this past draft we are seeing the results. Maybe another first round offensive and defensive player like this past draft would fit filling our needs on both sides of the ball.

Someone mentioned Jake Matthews earlier. Personally, I think he will be a better pro than Joeckel, his former linemate, will BECAUSE of his bloodline. He is cousin to Clay Matthews and son of former All Pro lineman Bruce Matthews.
If either Matthews or Taylor Lewan are there, it would be VERY tempting to grab them and roll the dice on S, OLB, WR and RB with the next 4 picks. I mean let's get real, Saffold is NOT coming back and if he does, he is NOT starting. Unless Finnegan wakes up, and fast, I would be inclined to release him.

Yea KSUDodgers, that would be me on the Matthews potential. Since we whiffed on Kyle Long last year for Austin, we'd be stupid to pass on Matthews this coming draft but Fisher is going to have to change is idiom of never taking O-lineman in the first which I don't get at all.

If we'd have taken Long this past draft and pick-up Matthews this coming draft, we'd have one helluva of an O-line with Starks on board. I am going to keep an eye on J. Long because if he continues to play like he did against Dallas, we then have wasted alot of money on this guy.

Fisher will not pass on Matthews if he is available. His dad is a former Oiler/Titan and a HOFer. My guess is ,that pick would be a lock.

Wow... Jake has one bad game while facing one of the best pass rushing DE/OLB in the league and you want to write him off as a bust?? I don't remember hearing Calais Campbell's name mentioned much during week 1 or Osi Uminyora (other than the pick 6). Long is doing the job he needs to do. He, just like the rest of the team, got beaten bad Sunday.

KSUDodgers. I wish you would read my post and interpret it correctly before responding with last post for cryin' put loud. Here is the quote from the original post: "I am going to keep an eye on J. Long because if he continues to play like he did against Dallas, we then have wasted alot of money on this guy".

Notice it states that "IF HE CONTINUES TO PLAY LIKE HE DID AGAINST DALLAS,"... There is a difference in that and writing the guy completely off. Do you get that now??!!

Sorry retro, have to side with ksu on this one. Everyone is throwingh the Rams off the cliff right now because of the Cowboys game. Even I have said they played poorly. I have also said maybe it was the Cowboys playing well and the Rams just playing poorly for that game. You and I both know how the Rams have played on the road the past few years, young team, miminual experience against equal to better talent. Plus you add it was back to back road games and this all could have been predicted. I always think the Rams win so I can't even be held responsible for calling for a win but history was against them. As for Jake Long, he did get beat but so did everyone else. Lil Animal, Finnigan, Long, Quinn, Wells, Austin, Givens, Pead, pick one or add another player like the guys blocking on Austin's TD punt return or the 40 yarder he went for. I will add Shotts and Fisher himself for not having the team better prepared or a game plan that works or doesn't give the ball away. How about pussy Saffold holding his jock strap collecting a check so he can say it wasn't me! It was a feeble attempt at a Sunday afternoon, pure and simple but to talk about the draft next year, or blame anyone including Bradford as he is sitting on the ground looking through the ear hole on one of 6 sacks or 20 hits, does not make anyone feel better. I look for a much better effort against the 49ers, win or lose but isn't it effort we are looking for to get better? Young is young, experience comes with wins and loses, I will be the first to bitch if the slide continues. Just not after
