Think about it, a 10 mil a yr safety, gotta sign Sherman at CB for top money that is 16+ per yr and Wilson is gonna require a new contract of 100 mil +, so here comes the cap scissors.....And the cutting begins, Pete did good his 4th time around, we'll see if he can do it again or not.....When you have 3 huge contracts on your team, some positions will have to suffer, it's just the cap way..:2cents:

If the cap increases again the next season, that will take out some of the sting of signing up Wilson. For the Seahawks, they are in the right place at the right time to take advantage of this.

I think Pete and John Schneider have proven to be more then savvy enough. Look at what their locking up. Sherman a 5th rounder, and Wilson a 3rd rounder, add to that Chancellor who was locked up last year a 5th rounder.

Malcolm Smith, super bowl mvp, 7th rounder

Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse (their 2nd and 3rd WRs) Both Undrafted Free agents

Byron Maxwell who undoubtly will sign big time corner money elsewhere, 6th rounder, He is replacing Brandon Browner Signed out of Canadian league....

The work is already in place, Last drafts first pick was Christian Michael RB, which shocked the talking heads, but knowing that Lynch has 2 more years on his deal, he will undoubtly be gone as well.

Yes Seattle is locking up their core of superstars. and yes they will have to fill in with the draft, But with their track record im not worried......

There is no disputing that they have done an excellent job thus far with the draft and vets, but it is part of what the cap does to create an even playing field.....No matter how intelligent these GM's , Coach's and Owners may be, it dictates the level of power one team can control......Ravens fans know only too well, having been through it 2 times already.....No fans think it will happen with their team, but it will.

I think you are preaching to the choir, as I find no argument in your statement.
We just released Clemons and Red Bryant. We did not step up to sign Golden Tate.
Seahawk fans are very confident in their FO. We know we can't keep all of our guys.
To me, our main cornerstones to the team are Russ, Kam, ET, and Sherm. Marshawn is our identity, but his shelf life is coming up. He will be a cap casualty before too long.
I expect our FO will work it out as best they can.

That is correct, we have one of the best FO in the league but it is no way around it, as you said, keep your core players and plug in some and hope they rise to the occasion.
I think you know my point was just that when those core players get payed, there is a lacking somewhere else because of the way the cap limits a team.....And when you see that team that just looked unstoppable come out next season without key players, it won't be the same....It will definitely change, the question is only "how much"......

IMO ET could very easily get 14-15 Per year on the open market. Remember he's still JUST 24 years old...... He hasn't even hit his prime!

No way he would've gotten that much.

It's just way too much to invest in the Safety position when their is a value in it's limit no matter how good the player is.

Secondary is like Offensive Line in that it's effectiveness is based on the unit rather than one individual position in it which is why not a lot of money goes to one position in it.
