I heard one of the covers had the entire LOB ... I don't buy Madden anymore because it's garbage

Sherman asked them to do it, but they declined. There were mock-ups going around, but none of them made it onto the cover.

agreed....but it's better than it's been in a long long time, and that was the point with depth being questioned for next season.

But Romo only counted 11m against your cap this year. That JUMP to 27m is going to hurt, no matter what anyone thinks.

You talk about cutting guys here and there and saving a couple of million, but Romo is hitting your cap for 16m more next year than this year. That's freaking HUGE.

I haven't seen how his contract was formed, but that seems ridiculously out of whack. Someone really fucked up in making that. I mean he's only like 17m in '16 and doesn't come close to 27 the rest of his contract. Why on earth did they need to totally blow up '15 that way? :noidea:

But that's going to hurt.

Only see 3 challenging home games so I say 7-1 or 8-0. There is not one easy road game on that schedule so I say 4-4 or 5-3 at best away from Seattle.

Free agency changes everything though

At this point, Seattle is the only team with much cap space. Of course, that can change but I like our spot.

actually, Dallas's cap is in the best shape it's been in for years. Depth has been limited the last 2/3 years and will be better due to the cap clean up last year. T. Smith will be restructured for sure, Romo may or may not, and Carr will take a pay cut IF he wants to stay.

" IRVING, Texas – Over the years, the Dallas Cowboys have had to make a number of personnel decisions based strictly on the salary cap.

DeMarcus Ware was a salary-cap move last year. So was Miles Austin. They counted $8.571 million and $2.749 million against the Cowboys’ cap in 2014 despite playing for other teams. Austin will count $5.106 million against the Dallas cap in 2015 because he was designated a post-June 1 cut last year. Kyle Orton will count $2.25 million against the cap this season even though he spent last season in Buffalo.

Before you get too excited over that, Orton would have counted that much against the cap even if he was Tony Romo’s backup in 2014 because the final year of his deal would have voided.

In 2013, they made Marcus Spears a post-June 1 cut, so he counted $1.4 million against the cap in 2014. Nate Livings counted $2.1 million against the cap in 2014. In 2012, Terence Newman was a salary-cap casualty.

i

Carr
In cleaning up their cap the last few seasons, the Cowboys really have only one player who could fall into the salary-cap trap in 2015.

Cornerback Brandon Carr carries a $12.717 million cap charge and is scheduled to make an $8 million base salary. Only Darrelle Revis ($25 million) and Patrick Peterson ($14.791 million) have higher salary-cap figures than Carr among cornerbacks.

Carr did not have an interception in 2014, but he played much better in the final five games than he did in the first 11. Just not enough to warrant that payday.

The Cowboys will offer Carr a chance to stay at a cheaper rate, like they did with right tackle Doug Free in 2013, or cut him altogether. Making Carr a post-June 1 cut saves the Cowboys $8 million against the cap in 2015, but he would count $7.434 million against the 2016 cap.

If the Cowboys don’t designate Carr a June 1 cut, then they will save $566,000 against the cap in 2015, but he will not be on the 2016 books.

The only other “cap casualty” candidates this year would be backup guard Mackenzy Bernadeau and backup linebacker Dekoda Watson. Bernadeau has a $2.824 million cap figure and a $1.5 million base salary. Watson will count $1.25 million.

Cutting both players would save $2.75 million against the cap, but it would leave the Cowboys without a veteran backup interior offensive lineman in Bernadeau. There really is no benefit to cutting Bernadeau. Watson was hurt for most of his time with the Cowboys and is viewed as a special teamer right now. He is much more expendable"

If Smith, Romo, and Carr don't take a cut, Dallas is on the hook for almost $67 million in dead money. That is half the cap, LMAO.
Management of Dallas' cap is a perfect example of how not to do it.

Really 67M for those three you say...and you're wrong, but thanks for your concerns for Dallas.
Funny what a difference one year can make

Honest question, do you think they're going to be able to keep both Dez and Murray? I really don't have a clue about the cap situation of any team other than Seattle. Seems like they'd keep Dez if it came down to a choice between the two.

And before we pencil in what people think of the Dallas game next year, keep in mind Romo is counting 27m against their cap next season. That's why they can't sign both dez and murray. That cap issue is going to be a huge problem for them. Their depth will be non existent. If you get them on your schedule, get them late in the year because injuries are going to kill them.

27 million :pound:

Sounds like it's time for JJ to pull what the Niners call the "Eddie D/Carmen Policy Policy" of either deferring money 20 years down the line on an extension or sign the FA , announce him signing to the veteran minimum, while at the same time, paying off the difference of his worth:$ ratio in a duffel under the table. Let's see if Fehr Goodell can sniff this play out.

Of course the player would give lip service to the organization, talking bout "I'm trying to chase a ring and I feel ___________ organization has a legit chance to get there. I'm happy to be a part of this team, just trying to work together to win." Media eats it up as the co-existing superstars that are all about team yadayadayada, Eddie D got the player he wanted that he knew could be impactful, and the player got paid. All while committing a lightly heinous crime in the world of sports. Just depends on how loose your morality meter is I guess.

I think they keep Dez without question.
Murray? Not so sure there....maybe tag him for a season....it's been mentioned locally that they could go this way. Smith is signed for 10 years and his contract will be restructured a few times. Romo is the rub, Dallas would be better in the long run if they bite the bullet this season and pay his huge contract number for this season, but something tells me jerry won't do that. Jerry just might sign Dez/Murray and still land a quality FA this year....never know with JJ.
