I would've loved to see Maxwell back, but $10m a year??? Jesus. Maxwell is a good #2 CB, but he's getting paid top tier #1 CB money. Using his annual salary as the benchmark, the only CBs getting paid more are Joe Haden, Richard Sherman, Patrick Peterson and Darrelle Revis.

Wish him the best of luck, but happy we didn't re-sign him if that's how much he was expecting. I'd say he's worth about half that.

Lets see what Maxwell can do without Thomas and Chancellor.

All the best to Maxwell. He helped Seattle get a Super Bowl win and another appearance that's for sure. No sour grapes here as I think everyone knew he was leaving and he left to another contender so he's keeping himself relevant.

That said, if I was an Eagles fan I'd be PISSED. Maxwell's on field production is not worth $10M+ let alone even 8-9M. A lot of his INTs came from Seattle's ridiculous pass rush and the shut down from Thomas/Irvin/Wagner who basically kept everything deep and within 10 yards irrelevant.

I'll miss Maxwell, but Philly is INSANE for paying him that much. IMO Maxwell earned a 5 year $35-40M deal. Not $50M+. That said, it's no surprise really. It's a passing league right now and Seattle/New England further solidified over the last couple years that corners are a premium. Did Philly pay too much? Yep. But that's not really the point, someone else would've. It's expensive to go after free agents this day and age which is why teams that continually try to win free agency lose. This is obviously Philly's only big FA move because they wont have cap room to do anything else.

IMO I'm fine with Lane/Simon next year. Everyone bashed Simon but that was when Seattle's pass rush just self destructed with the injury of Avril and it's much harder to come off the bench than prepping all week to be a starter.

Let's spend our 1st on: WR, O/D-Line, grab Clayborne in FA (always wanted us to draft him), spend the 2nd/3rd on whatever we didn't grab in the 1st, and target some corners in the 4th-5th which we have been doing since the start of the Carroll era (outside of E. Thomas).

It's also worth noting that pro football focus rated Maxwell as the number 45 CB out of 108 qualifiers.

That's just insanity. WTF are they thinking? I was always a fan of the guy but that's way too much for him.

I agree it's a lot of money, but there backfield that consisted of Bradley Fletcher and Carry Williams was hands down one of the worst in the league. Being 50+ mil under the cap, they needed to make that move even though it was an over pay.

To much for Seahawks to consider, but with the cap going up up and up, what sounds like a lot now, mostly will sound middle of the road in a couple years. Hope the Seahawks ink Wagner and Wilson to a extension soon, because salaries just keep going higher and higher.

Hate to lose a great player but we got him on the cheap and certainly got great value for him plus we should get a sweet comp pick. 3rd round?

They haven't actually signed him, but yeah it looks like Philly.

Every top FA is going to be "overpaid" early on. That's what it takes to win the bidding war. Overpaid is so overplayed.

Im happy for maxwell its always good to see players get paid for their hard work I would have been upset if he didnt take that money. As a seahawk fan I would definitely say that he isnt worth that kind of money he may prove us wrong and be a pro bowl selection but I would be upset if we paid that to keep him..

*side note

what the heck kind of offseason are the eagles having first they traded away McCoy then signed frank gore, let go jeremy maclin then went and paid maxwell 10 mil a year. I have no idea if they got better or worse

Eagles went from somewhat feared to the laughing stock of the NFC East.

Both their best offensive weapons are now gone (Maclin going to KC, McCoy to Buff), they on PAPER improved their ILB but who knows how Alonso will recover and play behind a former shell of a front 4 (Buff compared to Philly), Trent Cole cut, Mark Sanchez given somewhat starter money (lol...........), overpaid to bring in Maxwell when Flowers/Jackson are probably better and received FAR less..

Eagles are an 8-8 team at best at this point.

Laughing stock? That's a bit much. Jordan Matthews showed pretty well as a rookie, and a backfield combo of Gore/Sproles might be pretty effective. Both guys are older but production hasnt fallen off too much yet.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Eagles swoop up Percy Harvin once he gets cut. He'd fit in well with that system and likely won't command the money Maclin would on the open market

I'm interested in seeing what Chip Kelly is able to put together now that he gets to not only coach, but pick his players. He's made some moves that look questionable from the outside, but I wonder if he's not just some genius who is building a monster of a team like PC did when he joined Seattle and helped pick Schneider as GM.

I don't like the hurry up style of offense.... If your O isn't 'successful your defense is left on the field way to much ... Old school football all the way ...

Yeah, it can lead to some awfully quick 3 & outs, as we saw when we played @ Philly. You gotta have the perfect QB to run it, not sure Eagles have that. Slow the game a bit and not make Sanchez (or Foles) play into so many mistakes. They turned it over way too much this past year.

LMAO to funny. I like Maxwell but he is a 4-5 million at max type player but we get to see him every week and know that he isn't a top flight CB and the Eagles just see what Sherman, Kam and Earl are responsable for and that is "over all passing defense". yes Maxwell helps a lot but he is not even close to those three players level. He is the or was the weakest link in that 4 man chain.

We just picked up a 3rd round comp pick off those numbers, thanks Eagles. The rich keep getting richer :P
