With PC's ties to reach out programs in LA against gang violence, I don't see the Seahawks taking that chance.

Hey Pete's helping LA's gang problem by bringing it up to Seattle right? lol

I hope they dont sign him , not cause of the gang stuff cause i dont reallly believe theres that much teeth to the nj.com article. I just dont want a diva at WR messing up my hawks mojo. Seattle doesn't throw the ball and if what our philly guys saying is true and he was to'ing on the sidelines last year. whats he gonna do when Seattle throws the ball 20 times total in a game

Seahawks won't sign him as we got Harvin.
SF would trip over their dicks to sign him because they're desperate for a speed WR, but they don't have the cap space.

But I wonder if he's truly rolling with gangbangers then his contract demands are going to get pushed way down. Not to mention the money for WRs was way down this year too.

Going to be very interesting to see where he ends up.
Not so much ,the 9ers will pass I'm sure. This kid is about money now and not trying to get a ring. He is just a whore looking for the best payday.

I think there is plenty of evidence that he either has some ties to gangs or is a wannabe. Either way. he is still not a top 15-20 WR in the NFL & not worth trouble he causes or the money he wants to be paid.

DeSean Jackson throws up Crips gang sign at DeAngelo Hall. From September 2013

NE is the landing place if he wants to win, Oakland if it's all about the green. In NE that locker room wouldn't allow his doucheosity and we might see midget Randy Moss for a season or two. In Oakland he'll fit right in.

Hes not a top 20 WR in the NFL. Thats simply not true. Wasnt he like 6th in receiving yards on a run first team? He's been to the Pro Bowl 3 times. Desean is NOT a top elite WR but he is a HUGE play maker that stretches the field probably more then any WR in the league. He's probably around the 10-12 range. But saying he's not top 20 is ludicrous.

He was released because is an asshole. They would not care about these "gang ties" if he wasn't so difficult to get along with. Most athletes keep some unsavory connections, doesn't mean they're all on the verge of going Hernandez on a motha fucka.

He acted like a douche and it just cost him 10s of millions of dollars. This should teach him a lesson about growing up, and I cant blame any team for taking a chance on his talent for what should end up as a short term/cheap contract.

F-U-C-K him. I cannot stand that dude and would never support him on any level. He's only slightly better than Golden Tate...

This.

But only to a point.

The Eagles were WELL AWARE of who he hung around for six years.......so this "gang" stuff is total BS to justify cutting him and getting nothing in return. Some of you need to stop falling for the okey doke so easily.

And while he may be hard to get along with, that didn't stop them from giving him a big money extension just last year. This is a Chip Kelly move, plain and simple.

Chip wants HIS guys. He wants to do things HIS way, and he knows Jackson wasn't all in on his offense. So he got rid of him.

I guarantee you in 3 years half that roster will be ex Oregon players.

Let's put it this way. Chip Kelly had no problem with running longest yard rosters when he was at Oregon to win no matter how much crap his Thug U. pulled. Lots of his players had rap sheets a mile long before they even started playing for him.

This guy has be into some serious heavy shit to get released by Kelly, especially at the NFL level and the team is willing to eat 6 mil over it.

I don't think the gang banger thing was why he was released. I think he was being a Dick, & either him or the HC drew a line in the sand. & someone crossed it.

If I am right, then kudos to the HC for standing firm & the owner for standing behind the coaches decision. Hate when high priced players try (& sometimes do) to control a team.
Just wish it wasn't the eagles that I had to give kudos too.

Based on what's out there, the "gang" stuff is being overblown. There's a huge difference between gang "activity" and "affiliation" with gang members. What's been presented is basically Desean Jackson knows some people who may or may not be in a gang. In the NFL, big fucking deal. Go look at the upbringings of the people on the rosters. I'd say its a fairly safe bet that a sizable chunk of the players in the NFL know people in gangs too. Hell, some probably even have family members in gangs. And the gang sign stuff? I wouldn't put much weight in that either. Signage has been co-opted into pop culture to the point that rich WASP kids at prep schools throw up hand signs. And given the areas Chip Kelly recruited at Oregon, he's dealt with "gang affiliated" kids before so its not like he's so appalled by it.

This gang story almost reeks of slander, a way to justify releasing a talented player and not catching any heat for it. Jackson was released because Chip Kelly doesn't like him personally. That's it. They should just say it. It's much more respectable.

He was owed 10, and if he doesn't fit what the eagles want to do might as well just get the dead money gone. It's not like it doesn't still save them money this year...

I can understand them releasing Jackson if he's not getting along with the coach. I don't see the gang stuff as being a big deal. I'm sure there are players all over the NFL who are affiliated with gangs. I think the money & the issues with the coach are the main reasons Jackson was released.

I've said it in another thread, I wouldn't mind one bit if Jackson ended up on the Chargers. Rivers needs more playmakers. I just don't expect it to happen because they don't have a lot of cap space.

The gang stuff is tabloid drama.

So a franchise paying him 8 million dollars shouldn't be the least bit concerned with the "tabloid drama" of their investment hanging out with murderers and gang members?

The people with whom you associate matters in life. If you're taking the Derrick Ward position that it doesn't matter then I would have to remind you of your boy Aaron Hernandez.

So one person out of hundreds to thousands with "gang connections" did something fucked up. You don't ruin a player's career over the exception to the rule.

It's not the exception! People who hang out with gang members, the vast majority of the time, are bad people. Jackson might not actually commit murder, but he's FAR more likely to get in some other sort of trouble if his known associates are these kinds of dumbasses.

It's not the only reason he got cut, but the Eagles are smart enough not to ignore that factor.
