Smith not fully healthy is a bad QB at this pointCant play him at 80%
I believe that Alex Smith is done.Where do you all stand with AS being the starter Sunday eve? I do not feel he is 100% healthy nor do I think his play the past weeks he started showed any signs of a guy who can will us to victory let alone complete a 3rd and long conversion. I believe Hieneke gives us the best chance to win this week with his knowledge of the offense, his mobility and current health. Now the TO thing seems to be a problem for this gun slinger but its 1 game so all week should be preached to take care of the football. No turnovers by our offense likely means we win the game so no room for carelessness. Hopefully Gibson plays and the run game can keep PHI DL honest because they are really good up front.
Don’t know where else to post it, as the thread about his documentary was entitled “Smith’s a Go” or something and didn’t want to misrepresent:
I am going to count on Ron to make a smart decision. This kid played a nice 7 minutes but he could throw up all over himself too. We are talking 4th string QB.Does anyone have a bad feeling if Smith does play and is playing poorly Rivera either won't bench him or benches him too late
I believe that Alex Smith is done.
Not physically but to me it seems as if the grind has influenced his decision to not go at less than 100%. That said, I've also made it clear that he is in retirement mode with an emphasis on not doing more damage to himself because I don't think that he's ever going to be 100% as defined prior to his injury.
The bigger question in this upcoming game is on the defensive side of the ball. They cannot get off to another slow start and have the team fall behind on the scoreboard. Doing that makes the offense one dimensional and put them in passing mode. Neither Smith or Heineke are come from behind passers.
