heine was taking finals at ODU for a reason . dont put too much on him
Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers wouldn’t have much film on Heinicke and he has nothing to lose. New QBs with talent can take awhile for teams to figure out but of course, can also be fooled by good defenses. Gimmicky or different system QBs are usually more successful to delay the defense, Heinicke isn’t, so maybe there’s not much time, but one game? Sure, especially if the defense had spent time preparing for Smith.

Heinicke is 1 TD and 3 INTs in his career, so it depends on why he started 0-3 in 5 games. For what it’s worth, that last pass should have been intercepted. And maybe another could have? I‘d have to watch again.

its a win/win no matter what happens , most likely our pick will be a top 10 if we lose , if we win we are at 19 and in the playoffs

Where do you all stand with AS being the starter Sunday eve? I do not feel he is 100% healthy nor do I think his play the past weeks he started showed any signs of a guy who can will us to victory let alone complete a 3rd and long conversion. I believe Hieneke gives us the best chance to win this week with his knowledge of the offense, his mobility and current health. Now the TO thing seems to be a problem for this gun slinger but its 1 game so all week should be preached to take care of the football. No turnovers by our offense likely means we win the game so no room for carelessness. Hopefully Gibson plays and the run game can keep PHI DL honest because they are really good up front.

You have to start As if he has his mobility back. If he cant move then obivsuly go with hieneke

He is not healthy, its pretty obvious the previously injured leg (19 surgery's) have taken their toll. 3 weeks to heal a calf strain? There are other implications to this. Top it off with his inability to generate any 1st half offense during his starts would give me pause thinking the leg is an issue, the thought in the back of his mind is an issue clearly or he would have started last week but opted out. Hopefully if AS starts he doesn't lay an egg the 1st half and RR asks Hieneke to come in and save the day because the offense for the most part regardless of who is at QB has either been inept or ineffective depending on who was leading the charge.

Like article says a veteran presence and the Sims boys stink. If there was confidence in the Sims boys to do well why make this move?
he is on the PS dean for god's sake , hardly a ringing endorsement

I don’t think Smith was healthy from the getgo against the Niners and I guess that’s how it could be against the Eagles. I think that’s the reason for the poor showing that week and if that is going to affect similarly for this game, I could see the concern. But I don’t think it was just him not performing well.

As for his performance against the Steelers, I think that was planned. Playing against a team that was undefeated and not being able to afford mistakes and he got 296 yards from it. A lot of passing, of course.

The Dallas game was a grind game until the end and so many things happened at the end that Smith didn’t have a chance to truly choke beyond the interception that MacLaurin stopped. But I also didn’t have a chance to show a last-minute win because of the great running and defense.

The week before that, I think Washington would still win but it wasn’t that great against bangles before their quarterback got hurt.

So I understand that he wasn’t playing lights out, but I think the Niners game is not indicative of him as much as his health and that’s relevant for this next week. And I think the rest is playing style. While he wasn’t and won’t ever be Mahomes, when the Chiefs had more weapons and gotten the flow of winning, he opened up. Obviously, he will be gone before all that happens offensively.

It likely has to do with the health of TM, a returning AGG, familiarity in the offense, and COVID rules.

But sure...it is because people had a bad game...smh
