1st round pick, Teubert and a conditional 3rd round pick (could be a 2nd pick if kings do well in playoffs)

shit this could be a massive trade for the oilers

Teubert, a 1st and another pick?

The Kings got hosed on that one.

Our resident Kings fans are going to be pissed... Lombardi got raked over the coals.

I mean, the Kings have Penner has another year, so that helps, and I think he'll be a great player for them. But yeah, that's a lot of future right there.

The conditional pick is a 2nd3rd rounder in 2012 according to TFP. (depending on LAK playoff success) WOW. That's a hefty price.

I think its a pretty good deal for the Kings. Yeah, we lose Teubert, but this kid hasn't been quite the performer as I thought. Picking up Penner is big for this season and next. Cap friendly if you project him to score 25-30 goals (wonder if that goes up if he plays with Kopitar consistently). And with the organizational depth on defense (Hickey, Voynov, Muzzin in the minors, not to mention Doughty, Johnson, Martinez, and Greene), the Kings made out great on this deal. We didn’t lose any roster players, we didn’t lose Schenn, and we went from Sturm-still-getting-up-to-speed to a top line LW with size and skill. Win.

I really think the deal was good for both teams. I mean, it was a lot of prospects involved for the Oil (which is what they need anyway) and a guy that should produce well in LAK. I think the price was a little steep, but I don't think Lombardi had any leverage. The market was thin, and everyone was asking for a lot. There were just too few sellers this year.

agreed. A lot of people are saying the Kings payed a lot. The Kings paid a lot? They paid a LOT? Picks in a weak draft. And we have a pool of prospects that is already stacked. No loss.

We have an excess of D prospects, and while Teubert is a physical type, he is FAR from the most promising. He had issues; he might get it together, he might not.

People don’t know the Kings’ prospects well enough. They ought to have asked for Muzzin or Voynov or Alec Martinez, at least. If they only wanted big ol’ d-men, then Forbort! It boggles the mind.

I thought it was good for LA too.
Penner and Brown is a hell of a 1-2 punch on the forecheck.
Brown would get there a lot faster though :D

Teubert has talent, but has some big question marks. and Kings do have a boatload of d prospects - it was pretty clear that was the asset to shed.

I won't miss Penner in the remaining Flames games this season against the Oil, he's played quite well against Calgary this season.

I'd sure rather see him on an island in Edmonton than potentially on a line with Brown and Kopitar in the playoffs.

Yeah, I'm just thinking about making the playoffs first, the Canucks are already home and cooled, the Flames probably won't have that luxury until the final game of the season.
