It couldn't be any worse than the few that were made back in the day!

I still remember the stupidity of a very young Tom Hanks going crazy and giving his first run at an Oscar bait style speech at the end of Mazes and Monsters. Man, was that bad.

Then there was a 90s (I think it was 90s) one that was also complete crap.

Nowhere to go but up!

I had not heard of either of these, let alone watched them!
The scorchingly mediocre mid-4 ratings fit the "poorly done source material" narrative though. Again, let's just hope the new project exceeds the previous attempts.

I used to love D&D back in the day... we would play in the evening during Boy Scout camping trips... super nerdy, but super fun.

Besides, as GoT showed us, it's not really about the places they go, it's about the characters, their development, and who the audience invests in.
And with how quickly they managed to travel, the layout of the land was secondary to the drama and action.

A lesson they might have learned from LOTR, which took a lot of time to show us the lay of the land, but folks really just wanted to get to the action sequences.

I loved the 80's animated TV series. A true classic from my childhood. I'm honestly glad that no one introduced me to the actual D&D game b/c I was such a nerd already. Then again, back in 87, Final Fantasy for NES came out...
