It also sounds like the have a deal in place for Javon Hargrave. We are going from a defense that gets no push from their interior to hopefully having a better than league average push from that position.

Also the number that Allen signed for is inflated (likely agent reported).

The base contract is 3 year $51 with incentives possibly pushing it up to that $60M value. And in reality it is more like a 2 year deal for about $35M that carries a $5M deadcap it in that 3rd year.

I mean if they're rolling with McCarthy, now is your time to go all in balls deep...

Both Hargrave and Allen are older players who may be on the downslide, so I think paying them huge deals is highly risky.

The NFC north could be even tougher next year.
Yeah the NFC North should be loaded next year -

The Bears have made some improvements this offseason and I think people have prematurely labeled Caleb a bust, he wasn’t that bad in his rookie season and he was sacked more than any other QB and there was coaching chaos, I think the Bears O will be much better under Ben Johnson and I think the Bears will contend for a playoff spot.

The Lions will be loaded again and should be great.

The Vikings QB situation is kind of unclear but they have a slew of offensive weapons and a solid D

And the Packers have a strong core of offensive players, and their D has some talent, they do need to address corner and edge rush though.

Will be interesting to see what these teams do in the draft, but yeah the NFC North looks loaded and all 4 teams look like playoff contenders on paper.

I agree, I think he will be, I think all 6 1st round QBs from last year will have good careers - JJ was the one I was least sold on because he didn’t put up the numbers the others did in college but he was very solid at Michigan and did what he needed to do, and all of the pieces are in place in Minnesota for him to have success. The NFC North is going to be a lot of fun next year.
