No denying that he hasn't looked worth ANY pick, much less a 3rd rounder...but...imo he's not getting enough touches to really be effective as a RB or WR...his true failure to date has been as a return man, he has has enough touches there...I say he needs more touches with the OFC before we can say he's a total flop...right now just a regular flop.

From Dulac's PPG Chat this morning. His take is that they are not going to look elsewhere at this point but roll with Archer "on deck" as the primary backup and Harris "in the hole". Things could change but as of now I guess we'll get to see if more work is the answer for Archer of if he is truly not up to the challenge.

Is Harris from the Practice Squad really the answer at backup RB or are they looking to a veteran elsewhere? Thanks.

Gerry Dulac: First off, Harris will be the third RB, which means he will not play much, if at all, unless there is an injury. And, as I stated earlier, the Steelers are not looking to bring in a veteran right now, if at all. They are prepared to go with Dri Archer as the No. 2 back and Harris.

Adding Ladarius Perkins to the PS to take Harris' spot would seem to support Dulac's opinion on them not picking up a vet RB.

Good pickup Mud.

If this holds true I think Archer will get his shot...Blount averaged 6 carries a game and typically would get 3 plays in a row a few times he got a whole series.

Josh Harris is going to be the RB2 in no time... Archer being the #2 is only temporary while Harris gets up to speed.

Josh Harris is a beast... One of the better UDFA's on the PS. He reminds me of a shifter/quicker version of Willie Parker. I can't wait to see what this kid can do.

lets be patient with this guy.....

one thing that drives me nuts with him is that, when he is on the field be it at WR or RB the play goes to him....teams have sorta figured that out eh.....

I just think that too many people are expecting too much from this guy. Do I want him to be more successful ...... damn straight!

dumb it down for him and have him make one cut and that is it....one cut and take it upfield.

we've had a shitty return game since Randle El was here....

I stand corrected but I would like to see the fan base be more patient...for years rookies never started for the team....

he needs to have some success and hopefully that will kickstart the confidence.

I hear ya about the selection, it was a head scratcher especially with our CB issues.

I wanna see him have some success and roll off it.

he's 11 games into his NFL life.

While I don't think he's been used enough in the OFC to really say he's been a bust or not yet, but his play has been disappointing to say the least. That made it hard to give him snaps...at least @ #2 RB...he should get to 6 to 8 touches and we'll see what he does with them.

To Face's point...I've heard good things about Harris also and most likely he will end up being the #2 RB by week 15 if Archer is not producing.

Yep... It's a stretch to say that Archer can handle RB2 duties. Haley would have to change his schemes to better use his smaller frame. Bell is a 3-down back capable of big things, so it definitely gives the coaches some breathing room with RB2 & RB3 duties. And let's not forget, Will Johnson can be used as the 'bruiser' if need be. Johnson's TE duties didn't really pan out so I think they might be trying to get him more involved. He has been doing a phenomenal job as a blocking FB lately.

But if Bell *knock on wood* should get hurt, then things could get dicey...

With Blount gone, hopefully he'll play more so we can see just what he can do.

Could tomorrow be the 1st time Dri Archer has an explosive play on offense? With more opportunities I like his chances.
