Work load would be a concern for me if he's up early next year and in the rotation. You're basically projecting a Lincecum like minor league matriculation for him.

This. Also, you'd start his arb clock earlier.

Someone (I can't recall which service) wrote Aug 2013.

Heston is in Double-A. While he is doing well there, it's a pitcher's league, so I am not ready to hand him the ball and put him in the rotation just yet. I am not counting him out, but I would feel much better putting the ball into the hands of Stratton in 2013 than Heston.

Kown and Hacker are both 29 years old. Hacker will be 30 before the World Series ends. They SHOULD be mowing down the competition, considering that most of the other talent is about 5-7 years younger than they are. Neither one of those guys should be considered future starters in the bigs. If either one pulls a Vogelsong and proves they belong - great. But they would have to prove it. They do not get to be the "next in line" just because they are mowing down inferior competition in the minors.

Rep

I like Heston a lot, but I am still holding it in check. The EL is no test for pitchers.

Hacker is just that, a hacker, and Kown is hardly an also-ran.

Giants selected another college arm: Martin Agosta. On the smallish side, listed at 6'1" (that usually means 5'11"), out of St. Mary's. Huge Giants fan, apparently. Easy sign?

Sounds like he's a strike thrower with a fastball in the 91-93 range.

Has FYWW written all over him.

I am concerned about this as well. It looks like he was ridden pretty hard by his college coach.

Seems like a guy who is almost ready, though. I am thinking he is definitely insurance for Timmeh or a replacement for BZ.

I am not wearing my French Vanilla-colored glasses right now and I tend to believe that Barry Zito's current run of form will not last through the end of this season, much less into next.

I tend to agree. But we're still stuck with him as our 5th starter in 2013. I don't think even then we can dump him on the Yanks or whomever.

But Bip Roberts said that since Zeet's marriage, he's a changed man. Now he has someone to talk to when he comes home from work.

Bip must not be married.

We'll see. But "in the rotation in early 2013" seems unlikely to me. Must be these french vanilla glasses I'm wearing.

Is Williamson a corner guy, or a CF?

Remember Zito is still in the honeymoon phase, so it might very well be a reason for his confidence. If so I hope she keeps him happy for 1 1/2 more years.

Sounds like Nate Jr...

Which is GREAT for a 3rd round pick...

Agreed. Organizational depth is good. It's interesting that they're going with so many upper-classmen. Apparently, SabeySabes feels the same way about the farm as a lot of us do. ie. It needs more players whose bodies and minds are closer to major-league ready.

And oh, how sweet it is...

In all seriousness, I think Bip has a little bit of a point. Obviously, I don't think the debacle that is Barry Zito's career could have been avoided if he got married six years ago, but it does help. I rebound a lot quicker from bad days at the office since I met my wife. (mooshy interlude over)

Yeah. I'll hold my breath for the first two innings of all Zito starts from here to eternity, no matter how much he loves his wife. Then, I'll either turn off the TV or enjoy a great baseball game.

Interesting: if you don't sign a player you draft, you lose the slot money from your signing pool. Perhaps another reason to stay away from HS players early.

Better. He has some serious tools. Plus arm, speed, power, and D. His only knock is the hit tool, and he projects to put up Dunn like hit or miss numbers if he reaches that sealing.

Another early power pick with a huge ceiling and floor lower than Hell.
