Only a few more hours to see if we are getting a good pick or trading for Kevin Love.

Question for Lakers fans: Lakers get the #1 pick in the draft, T-Wolves are willing to make a trade for Kevin Love, but it must include the #1 pick. Do you make the trade?

No. I disregard Kobe's suggestion and truely begin to rebuild this team through the draft with a five-year plan. But I think short buss will freak, they'll trade the pick, and it will eventually comeback to haunt us thus delaying the very thing that needs to be done.

It would be very tough to pass up on Wiggins or Exum. However, there is only 1 way I would do it:

We swap #1 for #13 and #40. Minnesota has 3 second round picks.

With #13 we could likely get Tyler Ennis. With #40 we could likely get Isiah Austin.

Ennis
Kobe
Love
Austin/Gasol

??? Tough call.

#1? No. #3? Eh...I'd strongly consider it.

Yet again I'm in the minority but I probably would, strictly because Kobe is in win-now mode and there aren't any big men as good as Love in the draft. History says you don't need an elite PG to win a championship.

If we take Kobe off this team though then I would definitely keep the pick and rebuild.

I'm with you. Not because of Kobe being in win now mode, Kobe is the past and the Lakers should not mortgage the future in an attempt to get Kobe another ring. I'd do it because Kevin Love is a known quantity. With a draft pick, even a #1, you really don't know what you are getting. Kevin Love is a known, All-Star big who brings 25+ points and 12+ rebounds every game. For all intents and purposes, Kevin Love becomes the Lakers 1st round pick with the added bonus of knowing exactly what they are getting.

The Lakers can't trade their 1st round pick without receiving one back, so there is still a chance to get a good young player and it doesn't set the franchise back if he doesn't pan out.

Additionally, Love is only 25 years old, so the Lakers would potentially have him for 10 years. With the right FA moves, they could contend within the 2 years of Kobe's contract and then add another max level FA or 2 when Kobe retires to continue contending.

I Love Kevin Love, but if it's top 3...you couldn't PAY me to pass on Parker, Wiggins, or Embiid. Put me in the camp that think it's WAY worth it to try one of these guys out. I don't even think it's a risk...and nobody's opinion here is WRONG imo. It's either you're in the camp of let's see if we can put something together now, or let's see if one of these guys can develop pretty fast. It's not a risk imo, it is an unknown however

:agree: it's unknown, but with a very high upside.

A package for the #6 pick and Pau Gasol might be enough to persuade Minnesota

Personally I think we need to keep the #1-3 pick if we do end up with it. But if we can somehow get Love with the 6th pick i'd be more than happy.

A line up of

Hill
Love
Deng (via FA acquisition)
Kobe
Farmar/Marshall

Nick Young to lead the team off the bench

would be a VERY good team

I would not do it. I would like to obtain a number 1 for next year. We can sign Love the summer of 2015. The Lakers need to build thru the draft with a dash of free-agency. I am sorry Kobe, but the Lakers have to think long term.

What would be Minnesota's incentive? Pau is a free agent. Why would Minnesota do a sign and trade for him when they can just sign him as a free agent?

Can they afford to sign him as a free agent? They are at $65 mil for next season. I don't think playing with his boy Rubio on a non-contending team is enough of an incentive for Pau anyway.

Chances are, the contending team Pau may want to go to likely won't have enough cap space to sign him to what he'll likely command. I do think the Lakers will be able to get some assets back using a sign and trade of Pau.
