This

You want your team to "grow" with your qb ideally. Washington has a lot of guys in their prime. Stafford is on a very team friendly 20 million dollar deal and they can recoup most of that by cutting Smith. That leaves them the space to add more talent around him.

Obviously as a Browns fan I've painfully seen what late first round qbs can bring. More Brady Quinn's than Aaron Rogers.

Happy for you guys, got a lot of friends from O......H.....

anyone know exactly what Stafford will count against our cap? i was reading something about a bonus he is owed, do we get stuck paying that in a trade? i honestly don't know

Roughly 20 and 23 million. His salaries are low (10-12 mil) and roster bonuses are 10 mil.

ok thanks, i was hoping their was a way to wiggle out of the roster bonus...but that doesn't make sense nor seem fair

Is our offense that much better than Detroits? I think Stafford would thrive in this offense, but im concerned about his injury history

i don’t think we are comparing WSH offense with Smith/Haskins/Allen to Stafford. I think the comparison is overall of draft picks, mentoring, Allen having continuity, Stafford learning new system, Stafford getting injured, getting older, and having the same fate of postseason exit. I know everyone has KC penciled in for perennial SB appearances unless their cap depletes the talent and injuries happen, but NFC? Might be a year or two until someone takes hold. At that time, it won’t be Stafford any more than now would be Smith because it’s about the next guy either way unless now is the time with your defense to win the NFCC.

Its not a short cut. We have young players at the skilled positions.
We are a 7 -9 team in a weak division . We need to build the right way and hell you want to give away our whole d/ line

The price was so high because now Detroit has to pay for Goff’s contract. So Detroit would not have been able to ask for so much.

I can understand the Texans probably wouldn't want Goff but he's only a year older than Watson. That's a heavy price for Stafford.

Cap difference the next two years isn't extreme considering the position.
