This only helps prove that if you make a few catches, people on this board will overrate your skills.

Seems to me like they have a "wink wink" deal with him. They'll resign Lee once he's healthy, and not have to worry about him being claimed.

I know at the very least Kramer was screaming for Gresham to get off the field in place of Lee at points last season. And this began when Gresham missed some time and Lee caught a few passes in a few games.

It was probably me. My point was that when Gresham was out last season, Donald Lee did a fine job making up for his production. We didn't necessarily miss anything that Gresham was bringing to the table. These comments had as much to do with Gresham's inconsistency as they did Donald Lee's skill.

All that said, it's not like Donald Lee is a bum that couldn't make it anywhere else. The guy has had a solid career - He's been in the league for 10 years. He has been the second tight end on a Super Bowl team and is a good blocker.

I never overrated his skills. He is a know commodity. My only point in mentioning him at all was a reaction to our fans overrating Gresham's value. A point which has come up once again this season.

Lee is a good player. I was suprised with how athletic he looked this preseason...he can definitely play and contribute. Love Orson Charles, though. He's athletic enough to line up as a big, slot reciever. If it were up to me I'd of let go of Whalen before Lee.

I think Charles is a nice prospect. It does concern me that he appears to be the main option if Gresham misses time. It's nice to have a veteran at the position, so I liked having Lee on the team.

Therein lies the problem. I don't profess to know the ins and outs of any position, nor the full value any single player brings to the team, but I do know that a TE has one of the biggest roles on any team, and isn't just limited to catching a few balls.

You can only run as many routes as you're directed to and catch as many balls as are thrown your way.

This is speculative, but could it be possible that the team did not trust Lee as much in the TE blocking schemes being relatively new to the offense, and simply had him running more routes than they would have had Gresham? Could it be that - for some of the same reasons as above - they felt last season Gresham would bring more value blocking with a weak o-line than running routes and exposing Dalton?

That was the point I was making with my initial post. If Lee was as good as professed last season in place of Gresham and could so easily replace Gresham, I doubt he would have been released with only a rookie as the backup and that for Chris Crocker of all players.

I'd bet good money that Lee will be brought back once his injury is no more.

Honestly...does anyone think a healthy Lee gets cut instead of a guy that has yet to be active (Quinn)?

Lee was as new to the offense as Gresham. They both were new to Gruden's system - The difference between the two was that Lee had many years in NFL football. Hard for me to believe that Lee was 'held back' due to lack of knowledge of the position.

The simple reason why Lee was cut was due to health -- He is a veteran 2nd teamer that doesn't have value for the future and has no real value for the present given he can't play. He's hurt and he's done with the team. It's not surprising. Like Crocker, if injuries occur and he is healthy, he'll probably be brought back to the team.

I won't disagree with anything you said. It's all speculation. And you're likely right, he probably will be back. But that doesn't speak to the simple point I was making. A guy (any guy) makes a few plays here and there and possibly in multiple games and everyone touts them as the next coming. Misses a few plays, and we should drop 'em. Similar to the point Servo made in his post about Dunlap.

I don't think anyone said drop Dunlap and everyone has said he is extremely talented, however it is true he has a vagina. And a big one that gets lots of sand in it and causes him to miss a lot of time.

It is also true that he tried to come back early last season from his hamstring injury only to reaggravate it. That kind of goes against your entire theory. I would think leg injuries to a player who specializes in rushing the passer are things to proceed with caution and bring along SLOWLY.

Don't be silly.

Didn't say he didn't try to come back to quickly. I said he is always hurt. True of false, he has been hurt every year he has been a pro.

That's the exact opposite of what you said here:

however it is true he has a vagina. And a big one that gets lots of sand in it and causes him to miss a lot of time.

True or False?

False. You can be a huge vagina and still try and come back. He is a huge vagina because he is continually hurt.
