He played in only 12 games his rookie season. I remember him having a nagging injury but after running a quick search can't remember what it would have been. I suppose it's possible that I am confusing an injury with Marvin simply not playing a rookie, but this seems unlikely for a d-lineman.

Marv just didnt play him...when he did he racked up like 10 sacks in 8 games or something riduclous. I'd be suprised if he saw meaningful snaps in the first 8 games of his rookie season..then he just dominated. Set the rookie sack record, I believe.

Exactly. And the first game Dunlap was forced to play due to an injury (Odom?), he played very well and that was when Marvin came out with his "I'm only playing Dunlap because I have no choice".
