@SlinkyRedfoot is a good guy. He'll eat his crow, albeit with a fair amount of salt.

Yeah, I thought about that to when I saw the "oh my God, it fucking worked again" look on his face as he was standing behind Henry and Luccino on the field after Game 5.

I'm not sure what to make of it. It reminds me of the Giants' "dynasty." I kept saying they were lucky, but at some point I have to acknowledge the fact that maybe I'm retarded.

I'm still at the "luckiest fucking guy" in the world stage with Dombrowski. I just really don't like the moves he made, but he did win another world series.

It helped Dombrowski out a lot that he stepped into a team that had Betts, Benintendi, Bradley, Devers, and Bogaerts.

But was also riddled with the dead weight of Hanley, panda, and 1/3 of a Pedroia, all on bad deals.

He also hasn’t been burned by any of the prospects he’s traded yet.

But he was in a tough position, if he didn’t win a title by 2019, I think he’d also be out.

Yeah. He put his chips in to win now.

But winning now doesn't protect him forever. Cherington went from boy wonder to fired in 2 years.

This. Big time.

He stepped into that situation and then did his typical pay way too much for free agents and gave up a bunch of prospects. I can't argue the fact that his style didn't work in Miami, Boston and to a lesser extent Detroit, but I'm just not particularly impressed by it.

I will say though -- and it's difficult for me to do so -- I am damn impressed with the 2018 Red Sox.

yup.

It will be interesting to see what he does after next season when all of the following are FAs

Sale
Porcello
Bogey
Moreland
Holt

all while Betts and Bradley hit FA the next year.

The Sox HAD to win in either 2018 or 2019 because they will look completely different in 2020.

Obviously love how they won it all this year so it worked out for him just sucks to lose all those prospects but hey, it paid off!

Moreland and Holt I don't see him bringing back... Maybe not even Porcello... Sale and Bogey they should do anything they can to keep those two...

Lets see how Sale's shoulder holds up. I'm not convinced he's gonna age well.

Yeah that is scary. He clearly was not healthy coming down the stretch and he didn't have his speed on his fastball anymore... He is a very thin dude and has a ton of innings so that has to wear on him.. But like you said, not too confident on his aging..

I can’t see them giving sale the deal. If they’re not competitive they can do quite the sale and reload the farm.

I’m not sure what they need to add. Another infielder and a reliever for sure.

True, they didn't give it to Lester and Sale's health is a huge question mark so they might not. I would think they would at least try to make some sort of deal with him...

2nd base (Pedroia won't do anything) and a left handed nice reliever. Should the Red Sox do a rebuild now however? Or at least after the deals for everyone else is done?

I’m not sure they have any surplus to deal.

So they might as well go all in for another year and then you rebuild around Mookie, Beni, and X.

The closest would be porcello if they signed eovaldi.

And you’re counting on Johnson as your #5 starter.

Not sold on Johnson also. Heck... Who will now close... Don't think Kimbrel comes back

Highly unlikely imo.

People are saying Kelly but I wouldn't trust him closing either. Yes he was fantastic during the World Series but still

Kelly is also a fa and frankly is better getting 6 outs. Use his length to an advantage as well.

He is gonna cash in. Also not worth it.

I’d rather get familia and Andrew Miller on a pillow contract

Familia wasn't that special either.. Miller still seems to be hurt.... Can't truly trust those two either but probably better than Kelly
