Dolphins close to signing Gase. JBC + TA would be his OC/DC

Dolphins VP of Football Operations Mike Tannenbaum said new HC Adam Gase will have control over the 53-man roster.

It's a lot of power for a first-year coach with only coordinating experience. Recently-promoted GM Chris Grier will be limited to the draft and free agency. Gase will also handle play-calling and doesn't expect to hire an offensive coordinator. The Dolphins are clearly all-in on Gase.

Cooter is safe...for now.

Good. Don't want anyone touching our Cooter.

More proof of big time heat between Philbin and the Miami front office during his reign.

According to the Miami Herald, former Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin wanted the team to draft Derek Carr in the first round to replace Ryan Tannehill in 2014.

Philbin was overruled by former GM Dennis Hickey, who took OT Ja'Waun James instead. According to beat reporter Armando Salguero, Tannehill was "starved for help and support" but never got any from Philbin. Whenever "things got sideways" during his tenure in Miami, Philbin would privately blame Tannehill for the team's shortcomings. Philbin even resented Tannehill's friendship with Dan Marino, who was brought in as a special advisor in 2014. Philbin's aloofness toward Tannehill certainly contributed to Miami's dysfunction last year. Tannehill is in a much better environment now with Adam Gase as the head coach.

I think he will be let go and probably join Miami in some capacity anyways.

I can see Gase giving him the OC/QB coach title and work with Tannehill along side Gase if he's let go.

I realize he will call plays himself, but I've seen other teams do it like the Packers and Mike McCarthy

Why would JBC want to be an OC if he cant call plays unless he has no other options? TA is not taking a DC job elsewhere unless he is forced to..

Still, it could happen if Quinn cleans house and TA comes up empty in the HC search.

Just to have a job. No guarantees in this league. Hell, he may just be a QB C again.

You answered your own question on JBC while speaking of TA. Being forced...
