Thats the thing. How many need to care, or "be offended", until it's an issue? You could find small groups of people to say they are offended about any name probably. I just hate this politically correct BS all the time.

But if it's derogatory why can't they complain? I really don't care if the Redskins are forced to change their name, but if enough Indians say it's derogatory their voices should carry much more weight than my Anglo-Saxon voice does.
I guess their is a difference in using Eskimos or Redskins as a mascot, since one is a race of people and is the PROPER word to describe them and the other is a term related to skin color.

I doubt they'll ever change the Eskimos name because I don't think people find it that offensive or offensive at all. I wouldn't be so sure about the Redskins though. That little PC party seems to be gaining momentum.

California passed a law banning the use of the name Redskins among others for school mascots. My kid's school teams are called the Redskins and now they have to rename their school name. No one ever complained about the school name. Some far left PC politician decided it was offensive and write a bill banning such names. With all the issues the govt has to face, these morons waste time with such stupidity.

If that is the case, this is not the same as the Redskins name at all. Redskin is a word that was used to demean an entire group of people. I don't think anyone calls someone an " Eskimo" out of hate.
