But they did look like patsies when they were pulled in to the SEC, or at lease middle of the road teams. The B12 teams seem to thrive in the SEC.

SEC teams built defenses to stop SEC offenses. Big 12 guys come in running the spread. The 2 teams have 3 top 3 finishes combined over 2 years. Little tougher to stop with 1 week of preparation

You might want to go and look at Mizzou's record the 4 or 5 years before they came into the SEC. And, I do realize they are sloppy seconds from the B1G. As for TAMU, it's the Texas connection there.

All that aside, any way you cut it, from a sports quality perspective, TAMU and Mizzou >>>>> Maryland and Rutgers.

seems like most tSEC teams are playing tougher opponents out the gate instead of like other conferences that have warm up games against inferior opponents.
Let's keep that in mind come November when we will be treated to:

11/22 Western Carolina @ Alabama
11/22 Samford @ Auburn
11/22 Eastern Kentucky @ Florida
11/22 Charleston Southern @ Georgia
11/22 South Alabama @ South Carolina

That will help to make up for "playing tougher opponents out of the gate."

Also doesn't hurt when you don't have to travel more than 100 miles for OOC games.

In today's game, a good QB will make up for a lot of deficiencies. It's only 1 game so I'll reserve judgment until later.

Oh, so the problem is when they play the bad teams on their schedule. I guess sometimes you need to actively look for a reason to hate.

Translation: Tejas is certainly glad aTm is gone!

Not at all. There are about 4 more offenses in the Big 12 that are equivalent to what Aggy runs. Imagine if Baylor was in the SEC. You think Aggy is clownstomping SEC defenses with ease right now? Baylor would probably shatter all of Aggy's offensive records. Briles is a dick and has no problem running up the score.

Hey, we tried to get Vandy on the schedule and they backed out as soon as they heard they had to come up here.
Well that certainly solidifies your criticism of SEC teams never having to travel 100 miles to play out of conference competition. My apologies, sir.

Hey - I'm not the only person to point out this scheduling atrocity. I'm just the most recent.

I couldn't agree more. We've had a number of threads that discuss the "pre-season" concept v. "late season bye week" concept ... glad to see someone understands how those even out. Come November, I assure you that those people ripping the SEC for the "bye week" will have forgotten their "pre-season" games. Guaranteed!

Sorry, I just don't see the SEC travel up North here very often. You're welcome to correct me if I'm wrong. But how many home and away matchups do you see them setting up with other top 25 teams. LSU is doing that with Wisky, but who else is there?

OSU has had some great early season home and away games and Vandy is the first team I've seen back out of this due to traveling issues.

and once again, do you want to see those games in August, or November? Since the SEC tends to start the season with in conference, you play OOC later in the season.

believe me I would rather have warm up / scrimmage games at the beginning of the season before Diving into a conference game or in the case of Bama, UGA, LSU, Ole Miss season openers vs the likes of WVU, Clemson, Whiskey, or BSU
