For what its worth, his 1st season, my prediction:

W: 14

I would be fine with that and rep for a bold and specific prediction. I won't leave you out there alone so here goes.

W: 15
L:6
IP: 190
K:184
BB: 55
ERA: 3.59
WHIP: 1.245
HR: 14

I can see we have essentially the same idea of what we think Darvish will be next year

Yeah. Yours will probably wind up being more accurate.

I don't think I would project anything radically different from either of those stat lines, probably fewer walks though. I don't see him going from walking 36 over 232 to walking 51-55 over 187-190 while probably cutting his bag of pitches in half. I think he'll have a year a lot like Dutch's, some rocky starts in the beginning but lights out after the AS break, with a 2nd half ERA close to 3 or under, while pitching 4 or 5 absolute gems during the season.

I would say the adjustment to a new ball and mound could effect his control in the beginning

Also I would tend to think that ML hitters are a bit more patient and better hitters overall, just a hunch

That's. Big part of what played into my thoughts on that. I mean did you some of those ridiculous swings on his hilight reel?

Agreed you can see the guy has excellent stuff but it looks even better when AAA-AA talent is taking off balance ridiculous swings at it

Yu Darvish will transcend his human body and rise to the world as a glorious phoenix. His tears will cure cancer, and his jersey will receive the holiest of 15% discounts at all your local sporting goods stores. We are not worthy.

Sweet! We just won the bidding rights to the Japanese chuck Norris. Too bad he never cries.

It gets pretty damn hot in Japan too. The heat won't be a factor for him.

I read in one of the articles that he pitched in an air conditioned dome. He may have to adjust if that's true.

I am not convinced that Darvish is the better pitcher or will be in the future. Apparently the Rangers are convinced. I just don't see why Ranger fans love bagging on CJ. The guy was very good for his entire career here and then the Rangers did not want him back. The Angels did. Good for him. Lets move on.

Not sure what Darvish will do or what his ceiling is ... but we sure know what CJ's celing is.

Good points. Sometimes I forget how little of an indicator of good pitching that is with all the talk about replacing CJs wins. I think Darvish may start out strong early as he is an unknown and then struggle a bit midway through the season and then click again at the end. I think we can reasonably expect to see an era in the mid 3's for starters. And I would be fine with that.

well spot on Romeo, it took me a while to find this thread, or one like it

I think me and you between us nailed Darvish's 1st season to a T

I underestimated his k's and bb. Other than that pretty good.

I think everyone underestimated the K's, what no one really saw coming was the control issues

He seemed to put it behind him after the all star break. I didn't realize his stuff would translate to being so filthy in the big show though.

I am 100% on the Yu Darvish bandwagon. I believe he is going to be a top 5 pitcher over the next 5-10 years. He may not dominate at the beginning of the year but I think he will be by October!

Right on the money with my prediction for last year. I hope I'm right about years 2-10 as long as he remains a ranger.

Even when he did. I still had the thought in my mind that he would walk guys at any time. Hopefully he keeps it up next year.

Incredible how spot on you guys were. Don't think the pro scouts or talking heads were within 20 yards of you guys. Very impressive.

What is amazing is his K's and WHIP even with the control issues he had to work through. In year 2 with the issues of newness and control put away what will those numbers be? Dang.

I am so ready for baseball ... I miss you guys.
