Hope you're wrong on Ellsbury.
Drew is more expendable due to our infield depth, but I want to keep him.
want to keep Ells also, but at what price?
he wants crawford money

Drew needed new contacts, thats why he couldnt hit in the WS until game 6
Ellsbury was playing on one arm
Both, according to Boras
Ells is gone, Drew probably gone also
Dropson steps it up big time last night!
Sucks big time that Gregory went out though... Covering a body part with a towel like that usually not a good sign
I will just assume that everyone but me will know both who and what you are talking about here.
Perhaps... Perhaps not....
Gregory left with an apparent hand injury.... training staff threw a towel over it... he looked to be in a lot of pain. too me when that happens, not really a good sign
Smells like jealousy and envy in here for some reason....................

It's definitely not envy. The Sox can spend the money if they want to. They just have positioned themselves in a spot where they likely won't need to go above last year's $155mm for a few years, or even their franchise high $175mm of 2012.
It's just ridiculousness equal to Yankee proportions. The Dodgers payroll went from $105mm in 2012 to $216mm (still behind the Yankees $228m) in 2013. That figure will likely exceed $230mm in 2014 as they go through arbitration with some players and also work out a deal with Kershaw.
The only significant salary the Dodgers lose is Uribe's $7mm from last season. What are they going to do with Hanley, who is in the last year of his contract?
The Dodgers can trade Ethier to save cash, but they will probably have to eat $25mm of his contract to get it done.
I have long been in favor of a salary cap in baseball. It is the only major U.S. sport that doesn't have one.
capt - Every time I see your avator I immediately think of the great movie "Major League"
JOOOOOOOOOOBOOOOOOOOOOOO (or however you spell it)
Are the Chiefs good or just lucky as all hell?
Rookie QBs playing against them so you can't really say this is a great undefeated team... can you?
So have I. And, I have spoken about it for a very long time, with my discussion also including a though of both a floor AND ceiling.
However,
If baseball is not going to get smart and change the rules so that the playing field will be more fair, I see nothing wrong with the team I root for taking advantage of this, just like the Yankees you mentioned for a long time doing.
They have $ 7 billion new t.v dollars to play with, and, I see nothing wrong with them continuing to throw money at team and roster problems until they go away. It's not my money, and, I know that Magic and the ownership group can alway make more money for them to spend in the future, so.......
Just being honest, and, not worrying about spending money that does not come out of my pocket.
We are in an era when the BBWAA can’t get it together to elect any of nearly a dozen deserving candidates for the Hall of Fame through the usual channels, so the Veteran’s Committee nominees maybe take on more significance than usual these days.
And, given that the VC is, this year, dealing with the so-called “Expansion Era” candidates (i.e. those from 1973-present), if there is going to be an induction of anyone who still alive next summer, this is the election that matters. Here are the candidates:
Dave Concepcion
Bobby Cox
Steve Garvey
Tommy John
Tony La Russa
Billy Martin
Marvin Miller
Dave Parker
Dan Quisenberry
Ted Simmons
George Steinbrenner
Joe Torre
