Teams know that they can get under the Pirates' skin with hit batters. They also know that the Bucs will get the short end of the deal when it comes to the umps' treatment of such.

I was there tonight. Good one to go see, no shortage of offense.

Van Slyke's home run was a rocket. I was sitting in left, watching that one fly toward me. It didn't take long to get out.

Good to see some power out of Davis, and Walker's home run swing coming back. Polanco also had a strong game.

And how Wright didn't get tossed is beyond me. That was a clear retaliation to Wilson's clear retaliation. There was no reason he should have been allowed to continue pitching.

Probably the most exciting game of the year, to this point. From the first inning on, after goofball Laz Diaz totally goofed a call at first base, this game was on like Donkey Kong. Bean balls, home runs flying out everywhere, Hurdle and Wilson get ejected, and the Bucs score a dozen runs.

Fun times. I'm jealous, DS. You saw that one live and it was a great one.

Hope they keep bringing the lumber tonight and the Bucs dump these chumps.

Agreed. I thought it was funny that Mattingly came out after Wright plunked Russ to 'make sure Wright was ok'.





That game got so heated last night that it got me to thinking about old history between the Dodgers and Pirates. Pulled up baseball reference on head to head stats since 1901 (modern era), and sure enough, the Bucs have faced the Dodgers more than only four other teams in MLB (1.Cards, 2.Cubs, 3.Reds and 4.Phils). It's one of the oldest matchups in all of MLB history.
