If they were going to fire Mattingly, why would they be waiting? My guess is they are happy with Mattingly except for his on-field decisions, and that's why they are bringing in a new bench coach. I expect that bench coach will be well experienced and somewhat outspoken so he can keep Don on the straight and narrow with in-game decisions. That's why I think it could be Baker.
I think when Don gets back from Indiana, he and Colletti and Kasten will sit down and talk about the future. They will make him an offer, and Don will either accept it, or reject it and look for another job. We should know the outcome before too much longer.
I'm hoping Don will continue as manager, because the alternatives are either a reject manager from another team or someone with no experience.
They fired Mattingly's right hand man, this could be a sign that the Dodgers might just part ways with him. Whatever the case may be one thing is for sure they are cleaning house
Head Trainer = Bye Bye
Bench Coach = Bye Bye
Advance Scout = Bye Bye
Manager = ?? ( My guess is his out )
