Wasn't he a second rounder? Easy to see he's an unassuming humble guy.


He was very, very popular in Detroit while he was there. For good reason.

3rd round pick, but from what I understand, it was more that he wasn't perceived as a great talent out of High School. UIC is fine, it's D-1 baseball... but it's not where any top notch players are headed. This could all totally be a part of his image that he likes to portray, as the "underdog". No doubt.

I was mainly a catcher, and played some corner outfield as a secondary position. Had a solid college career. I was a very solid back-stop, and that's really what I loved doing. My problem was that I could never quite get it going consistently at the plate.

Dodgers optioned OF Joc Pederson to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

With Friday's addition of Curtis Granderson, the struggling Pederson was squeezed out of his role as the club's primary center fielder against right-handed pitching. The 25-year-old was hitting just .116/.218/.261 with two homers, seven RBI and a 14/6 K/BB ratio over 78 plate appearances in his last 26 games dating back to July 16.

Cody Bellinger left Saturday's game against the Tigers with a mild right ankle sprain.

Bellinger stayed in briefly after coming down awkwardly on a catch but was soon replaced by Yasiel Puig in right field. No X-rays were required and Bellinger downplayed his injury when speaking to reporters after the game. Bellinger will be given the day off on Sunday, though it looks like he'll avoid the disabled list. The favorite for NL Rookie of the Year went 0-for-2 with a strikeout before exiting.

This year also sucks for fluke injuries. Never seen more guys get hit in the hand with pitches, or like with Trout... break his hand sliding head first. Harper slips on a wet base.

He homered off Verlander while he was tossing a true gem. Too bad Maeda imploded. Maybe I'm just being paranoid but the Dodgers seem to lose a little something with Taylor and Bellinger both out of the lineup.
