MLB just announced that LA got Nolasco for Ames and Sanchez. Is this too much?

I don't believe the Dodgers gave up too much at all. Ames, Wall and Sanchez are good, but not likely to become stars in the major leagues. Nolasco, while not an ace, is a nice number 4 starter and a huge improvement over Capuano, who either needs to go to the BP or get DFA'd. I suspect Fife might be optioned, but I'd keep him in the rotation for now (until we get Garza) and let Capuano go.

So, I, for one, like this trade a lot!! Now we need to upgrade the BP to get set for a stretch run. I have to say Colletti did okay this time.

The Dodgers also got close to another $200,000 in international signing money.

I agree with Sillas. Good young talent, but I don't see them doing much in the majors either. Nice to have another hometown kid come and play with the blue! Hopefully that will raise his game up to another notch.

I have always been a fan of Fife. He couldn't get the ball down last night but I'm kind of confident that he can hold down the 5th spot. If he can't, time to see what stuff Zach Lee's got in hiding?

Three useless relief pitchers for international spending money and a back of the rotation starter that we need now?

Fantastic trade.

My sentiments exactly... I am actually having fun thinking about next spring if Bills and Beckett come back 100%... Kershaw,Greinke,Ryu,Nolasco,Beckett,Bills....

Not a bad starting staff there, but with Bills and Beckett coming off surgery the Dodgers could even think of picking up a couple more starters. Garza would be a nice addition if the cost isn't too high.

Right now the Dodgers need to focus on the BP.

Am I wrong in thinking that Billingsley could be a viable bullpen option if he's able to fully comeback? Billingsley's track record of imploding in the 5th plus he's probably going to be on a limited pitch-count following the TJ surgery; kind of makes sense.

We really did not give up much for Nolasco and he did very well in his first start. If he is really good maybe we resign him as Bills is pretty injury prone and Beckett is too.

I believe Nolasco will do well for the Dodgers and I have a feeling he will sign next off-season with L.A.. He is a very good middle of the rotation guy and is capable of pitching a good game most of the time.

There is a lot of media hub bub about the Dodgers going after Chase Utley. He would probably command some top prospects and I'm not sure the Dodgers should make that kind of move unless they can sign Utley to a two year deal at the very least. He's an upgrade over Mark Ellis, though Ellis isn't the worst guy to have around.

Frankly, I'd rather see the Dodgers stick with Ellis and go after Cano for next season.

We still need a SP, BP help, and an OF given Dodger OF injury concerns.

Finally, it's time to get Kershaw's extension done.

So far he's been pretty solid, nothing great, but he's been a nice anchor at the back end, our depth in the rotation is really looking good at this point with Capuano even pitching well

Beckett only has one more year (2014) left on his contract at just under $16M. Not a bargain, but not astronomical either.
