I think Matt needs to mature a bit. I think he still has some party frat boy in him. But I've never heard him pass blame to his teammates. I don't mind him being laid back, and I really don't care (or invest in) anything these athletes from any team say to the media. Schwartz is regularly defending his side arm, his mechanics etc..in public so I expect Stafford to say the same (in front of the microphones). Behind closed doors I'd like to think that at 25 years old, he believes he has tons of room to improve.

What I see is two guys going out there and pretty much single handily winning games in heroic fashion in the 4th quarter on pure talent once the playbook has been scrapped. Isn't that how the Lions win 95% of their games? Aren't we always praising Stafford and Megatron when they pull these comeback cat wins out of their asses?

When was the last game we piled up a thread talking about how some amazing call by Linehan or Schwartz won us a game? Ever? All I remember are threads about mistimed red flags, bad clock management, and fake punts by 5th round kickers.

Who called the sneak to beat Dallas? Schwartz? Nope.
. I usually don't read the anti-Schwartz, Scotty, Gunns threads on here. No offense to anyone in particular, but fans usually only pay attention to calls that don't work out. For example I've seen various things from this past game directed at the staff. Not really sure why as the defense did a fine job and the offense did fine aside from players not executing. And players are going to fail to execute from time to time. It's the repeated failures that get me from players. And when certain ones don't straight up say"My fault" I have a problem with it.
(Im not really on board with the praising of comeback wins either. We've won 11 games in two years. Even if all of them were miraculous comebacks Id be disappointed with the consistency and leadership abilities I've seen). The frat boy thing was a major negative to me five years ago, it's more so now.

Tim Twentyman wrote a piece about Burelson and Mathis putting the onus on the players and not the staff. I'd link the article but I can't from my phone. Maybe you can search for Twentyman articles?

Thanks LP.

Nothing new here.

Maybe they have spent time on the Lions Boards because fans have been telling everyone that the Lions have lacked discipline for years!

Now Reggie be a team leader, hold onto the damn ball and start calling a few guys out!

Fuck it. All I care about now is the next two games. About to find out what this team is really made of. No close calls, no last minute heroics. If this team really is a team like they claim to be, they'll beat both the Giants and Vikings asses. And in three weeks ESPN will be talking about how the Lions are the team no one wants to play in the first round.

If not, they'll be talking about who the next HC might be.

If nothing else it's exciting.

I wish I shared your enthusiasm. I dont think if the Lions hang 50 on both the Giants and Vikes while shutting them out on defense that any team would be worried about playing the Lions.

I'd always rather they underestimate the Lions anyways.

I have a app from M Live that posts about six or so articles about the lions daily. It is an I phone app but works on my iPad. It is a nice way to keep up with the Leo's since I'm not from the D.

As for the Baltimore game there is blame to go around. To include playcalling not just execution. Linehan seems to get into ruts when calling games. How many runs right up the middle did he call against the Eagles? He took his foot off the gas and eventually they got their shit together and blew right by us. Maybe the Schwartz is in his ear and tells him to do such things.

So I was thinking..... If Nate and Reg aren't just blow in' smoke up my ass.... this is a three game play into a job next year for Jimbo. (Same goes if they are)Two teams have a chance to not even give him a chance. And Reggie n Nate need to do somethin', not fum'ble, and I forget what my point even is. Go Eagles!!!

Unfortunately for the Lions -- they can beat the Giants and Vikings by 100 points a piece, but if GB and Chicago win this weekend, they are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

So while the next two games are must wins for Detroit -- one of the two teams (Chicago or GB) must lose this weekend or the Lions season is done.

Reggie Bush says lack of discipline hurting Detroit Lions - ESPN

They both say the team lacks discipline(big fuckin surprise eh?) but that the onus falls in the players. They said it has nothing to do with the coaches and that in fact Schwartz is a disciplinarian. Are they just saying that so as to not cause a ruckus, or do they really feel that way?

Thoughts?

Its good to see them standing up for their coach but saying hes a disciplinarian is ridiculous. A disciplinarian would not have allowed the nonsense many lions have displayed since he got there. You think that shit would last with coughlin, cowher or belicheck here?

Nate and Reggie STFU. All these two bitches do is love to hear themselves talk, fumble, and not score TD's. Hope the next HC sends big mouth Nate into retirement where he belongs. Not sure Bush even makes the team next year depending on who the new HC is.

Both of them talked harder than they worked all year.

Well if people were not sure about jimmys lack of discipline after all he has done and allowed his players to do the past few seasons, the giants game and his antics should seal up any seeds of doubt. He once again has demonstrated that he cannot even control himself, how was he supposed to control an entire football team of men half his age that are still growing up when he is a child himself. Awful selection by the lions. What a giant douche, i hope the worst for him.
