Story goes.....

DK Metcalf, the Seattle Seahawks wide receiver and one of the fastest players in the NFL, is set to put his speed to the test.

Metcalf is entered in the 100m at Sunday’s USATF Golden Games and Distance Open at Mt. SAC, according to USA Track and Field.

The USATF Journey to Gold Series meet in Walnut, California, airs live on NBC, NBCSports.com/live and the NBC Sports app on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. ET. Entry lists are expected to be posted soon.

The obvious question: Is Metcalf trying to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Trials in June? Metcalf’s reported NFL agent has not responded to messages seeking an answer over the last week.

If Metcalf wants to qualify for the Olympic Trials 100m, he likely must break 10.2 seconds (with legal tailwind of no more than two meters per second).

A 10.05 automatically qualifies for Trials. Fifteen American men have 10.05 right now (who are expected to enter the Trials 100m), according to World Athletics. The field will likely be filled with the next fastest men to get around 32 entries overall.

In 2016, a 10.16 earned a place at Trials.

It’s very questionable whether Metcalf has that speed. He did not compete in track and field in college at Mississippi. He was a hurdler in high school, not a flat sprinter.

But last October, Metcalf sparked discussion when he clocked a top speed of 22.64 miles per hour while chasing down an interception return, covering 114.8 total yards.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are no and never has been a 230 pound Olympic sprinter, they just don't make them. This is a mistake and how he doesn't know this, ????
YES.....he like all fast football players can be in the race up to around 50ish then it's over for them as the legit sprinter who possess something football players don't.....speed endurance....start to pull away. These guys train to run a 100m football players don't.
I expect to see, a....hmmmmm?...10.6ish, seriously doubt anything faster. Hauling 230 pounds a 100m, nay!!!!
The Seahawks did have an Olympic sprinter once upon a time in Michael Bates, a 200m bronze.
Lions running back Javid Best (Cali state 100m champ) did run in the Olympics representing Saint Lucia where his parents were from. He ran a 10.3 something, which was what he won Cal State with but vs Olympic caliber sprinters, nay! Was quickly eliminated.
Eagles once had an Olympic Skier that they drafted in the 5th round. It worked out as well as you could guess.
More....a football player who also was a stud skier.
The Eagles drafted Olympic sprinters Frank Budd(60) a 9.2WR holder and Trenton Jackson (64) both complete busts.
Wilbert Montgomery who might be the best Eagles RB (Van Buren?) was a sprinter/long jumper while at Abilene Christian.
Seattle is going to love when his hamstring explodes during the event.
I do get a 40 or maybe a 60. A 100m for a 230 pounder could be dangerous like you mentioned. Nobody can run a "competitive" 100m without the training it takes.
Maybe he has seriously been preparing for this, don't know.
I'm guessing this guy knows nothing about how things really are when it comes to the athletes who play NFL football. A bonafide....DUH!!
His Steelers had world class hurdler Rod Woodson, Cali state long jump champ Lynn Swann, stud NCAA javelin thrower Terry Bradshaw.
The funny one was "Fast" Willie Parker, he wasn't!
Being simple must suck.
4.33 guy, and..
Track and field
In addition to his exploits on the gridiron, Woodson was also an accomplished track and field athlete at Purdue, and was twice awarded All-America honors. He finished second at the 1985 NCAA championships in the 55 meter hurdles and third at the 1987 NCAA championships in the 55 meter hurdles. Woodson held the NCAA 60 meter hurdles record for 10 years.[2] As of January 2009, he still holds the school records in both the 60 and 110 meter hurdles.[2] He earned five Big Ten championships while at Purdue.[6] In 1984, he qualified for the Olympic Trials in the 110 meter hurdles, but elected to continue his football career in the NFL after graduating from Purdue with a degree in criminal justice.[6]
Sad situation, he made the team but we boycotted the 1980 Olympics so he never competed in the games.
Yes, the greatest 110hh in history.
I'm great why? Surely you know how slow Rod Woodson is if you know everything
You never seem to get it guy, ya wander around in some fantasy world.
Woodson ran a 4.33 40, a world class hurdler, a 10.34 100m. Competed in the NFL Fastest Man competition.
Snap out of it slugger!
